On Deck

As the boat is out of the water, the normally unseen engineering of the boat can be shown: the bow thruster, stern drives, and trim tabs. The bow thruster has great utility for docking, and the stern drives have their role in steering and trimming the boat. The dual props on the stern drives are noted, these counter-rotate to reduce cavitation and prop overwork.

The Galeon 335 HTS has a big bathing platform at the back, a solid sliding roof, and a brilliant metallic paint finish. Also shown are the winch and anchor, before moving on to the cockpit. Here, there is a sunbathing area, dinette area, wet bar, and the helm with a sliding roof. The sliding roof utilises manual operation and its simplicity is appreciated.

Interior

In the saloon, there is abundant glasswork, big skylights, and large hull windows, which let in a lot of light. Contemporary pale grey wood has been used in the interior. Highlights are the seating area, the expandable table, and the compact but comprehensive galley, with note to the clever use of space for storage and the opening window section for ventilation.

In the forward cabin there is a double bed, storage spaces, and funky lighting. The cabin next to the helm has excellent headroom, and the bed under the cockpit floor is a good compromise for a boat of this size. The day heads has a decent-sized separate area for the shower and effective use of space for storage.

Performance

The engine room has a pair of Volvo Penta D4-225 horsepower engines. These give a speed of just over 3 knots, cruising in the mid-20s gives a range of 300 nm. The compact engine room has good access, enabling easy use of the raw water strainers, dipsticks, fuel filters, and the battery banks.

In Summary

Overall, Nick seems to like the Galeon 335 HTS, appreciating its engineering, design, use of space, and finishing.
