La Belle Classe YCM Explorer Awards 2019

The first-ever La Belle Classe Explorer Awards took place on 26 March with the Monaco Yacht Club hosting the inaugural awards ceremony.

The prestigious Monaco Yacht Club was packed with icons from the superyacht world as 79 selected superyachts competed for five awards - each rewarding owners who are environmentally responsible and taking action to respect and protect the ocean.

As the inaugural edition of this awards ceremony, there were great expectations of the event and the arrival of HSH Prince Albert II made a memorable first edition.

Yvan Griboval, explorer and member of the organization, Mike Horn the YCM general secretary and chairman of the jury.

With 170 in attendance, the jury deciding the winners comprised of naval architects, explorers, scientists and members of civil society.

On what was to be the presentation of four awards, the ceremony actually witnessed five presentations, an additional award being named the Special Jury Prize.
