The MTU Series 1163 range consists of high-speed, large-bore diesel engines, that MTU says are lighter and more potent than any comparable counterparts. With optimized acceleration capability and a high power density, the powertrains have proven to be reliable for nearly 30 years.
Featuring 20 cylinders and a displacement of 14,200 cubic inches, the Series 1163 produces a rated power of 8,715hp, operating between a speed range of 1,230 to 1,280rpm. Key features include a robust starting system, advanced cooling and mounting systems, efficient oil and fuel systems, and a sophisticated combustion air system.
The engine management system ensures precise control and monitoring, while the exhaust system incorporates two-stage sequential turbocharging for enhanced performance. Already delivering optimal exhaust emissions in compliance with IMO II standards, optional SCR solutions will be offered to meet IMO III emission regulations.
