Yanmar also makes the Dtorque 50hp turbo diesel outboard motor. A twin-cylinder common-rail engine, Dtorque is renowned for its remarkable peak torque output of 111 Newton metres at 2,500rpm.

It’s primarily aimed at the commercial light marine market – work boats, lifeboats, safety boats, inshore fishing boats and so on – but has also become quite a popular choice for superyacht tenders.

Dtorque is ideal for powering heavy loads at low rpm but it’s also notable for good fuel efficiency at high revs, averaging less than 12 litres per hour at full throttle.
