Aphrodite is a 39.01m motor yacht delivered by American shipyard Palmer Johnson in 2000. Her naval architecture and exterior design comes from the drawing boards of Tom Fexas Yacht Design, while Ralph Lauren is responsible for her interior design.

Key Features

  • Large swim platform for jet skis
  • Sun deck with jacuzzi
  • Master suite with his and hers baths
  • Spacious lounge with granite-top bar

Design & Construction

Designed around a semi-displacement aluminium hull and superstructure she features a 7.9m beam and a 1.8m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 319 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Exterior Design

Aphrodite's exterior layout begins with a particularly large swim platform, spacious enough to accommodate two three-seater jet skis. This area is practical for launching watercraft and provides additional space for sunbathing or setting up loose furniture. The aft deck is divided into two levels: the lower level for water activities and sunbathing, and the upper level designated for formal dining, comfortably seating eight guests.

A spiral staircase connects these decks efficiently, minimizing the amount of floor space used. The bridge deck, is where the tender is stored. In this case, a 12-foot Nova Rainier tender is managed by a crane capable of handling up to 2,500 pounds. This choice of exterior layout allows for more interior space, as the tender is stored externally rather than inside the hull.

Moving forward, the yacht offers an informal eating area complete with a barbecue, making it suitable for casual gatherings. The sun deck is equipped with umbrellas for shade, loose furniture for sunbathing, and sunpads adjacent to a jacuzzi.

Aphrodite's deck is made of teak, providing a classic and functional surface. The hull and superstructure are finished in a consistent white paint, which is both aesthetically pleasing and practical for maintenance. The boot top features a blue stripe, adding a touch of contrast, while the below-the-waterline area is coated in black. The raked bow contributes to efficient water flow and stability at sea.

Interior Design

Aphrodite's lounge area takes full advantage of the yacht's 26-foot beam, providing a spacious environment. The lounge features a well-equipped bar with a granite worktop, a large refrigerator, an ice maker, and ample storage for glassware. Large windows on both sides of the lounge offer natural light and expansive views.

The galley is positioned at the forward section of the yacht. It is equipped with a Corian worktop and top-of-the-line appliances, including a large microwave, an American-style refrigerator, a freezer, and a warmer drawer.

The helm is traditional in design and fully equipped with modern navigational instruments, including GPS and radar. There is a small seating area for guests to interact with the captain and crew. The helm also features a Portuguese bridge, which provides excellent visibility for docking and maneuvering the yacht.

Aphrodite’s sky lounge is another key interior feature. It includes a large bar and a big-screen television, making it suitable for social gatherings and watching sports events.

Accommodation

Aphrodite can accommodate a total of ten guests, distributed across several well-appointed cabins. The master suite, located below deck, spans the full beam of the yacht. The suite features a king-size bed, his and hers walk-in closets, and separate his and hers bathrooms. The "his" bathroom is equipped with a shower, while the "hers" bathroom includes a bathtub.

In addition to the master suite, Aphrodite includes several guest cabins. Positioned towards the bow of the yacht, the VIP stateroom is beautifully decorated and offers ample closet space along with an ensuite bathroom. Two Twin Cabins each feature two single bunks and a Pullman bed. The Pullman bed can fold up against the wall to provide extra space when not in use. Both cabins have their own ensuite bathrooms with tubs that double as showers. Aphrodite also features a cabin with a queen-size bed, ample closet space, and a private bathroom equipped with a tub/shower combo.

An office area on the port side doubles as an additional guest cabin. This area features a Murphy bed and an ensuite bathroom that can also function as a day head. The space is particularly useful for accommodating guests who may have difficulty navigating stairs, such as elderly parents.

Located in close proximity to the VIP stateroom, the crew quarters provide accommodation for five crew. Each cabin is equipped with twin beds and its own ensuite bathroom. Positioned near the engine room and lazarette, an engineers room provides the engineer with a dedicated workspace and additional facilities such as a workbench, washer, and dryer.

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by twin diesel Detroit Diesel (16V 2000) 1,800hp engines, motor yacht Aphrodite is capable of reaching a top speed of 18 knots, and comfortably cruises at 14 knots. She has been fitted with stabilizers to increase on-board comfort when the yacht is at anchor, particularly in rough waters. Her semi-displacement hull design means she offers a great balance of space and speed.

Amenities

Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort and underwater lights will turn plenty of heads when the sun goes down. The sundeck is the social hub of the yacht, with a deck jacuzzi for cooling off and an inviting spread of sunpads.
