Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement w/ bulbous bow steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 13.9m beam and a 3.75m draft. The yacht is built over 4 decks with an internal volume of 2,500 GT (Gross Tonnes). The design also incorporates a heli-pad.

The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. Launched in October 2013 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in April 2014.

Exterior Design

Originally named Graceful, the yacht underwent a significant name change to Kosatka, Russian for Killer Whale, amidst notable geopolitical events. When the build project transitioned to Blohm+Voss, a private indoor pool became a notable addition. This sizable pool, measuring 15m in length, 3m in width, and with a depth of 1.8m, occupies the space typically designated for a saloon and dining room on a conventional yacht. Freshwater hydraulics power a scissor lift, allowing the pool floor to rise and lower, transforming the area into a party space when not in use. Tender garages flank the depth of the pool on the deck below.

Significant modifications to the original hull and superstructure included changing the steeply slanted windows, reminiscent of a patrol boat from the original Russian shipyard Sevmash, to vertical to enhance the overall styling. The addition of a helipad on the aft of the upper deck was another notable alteration. Twin staircases from the lower deck descend to the transom level, revealing the beach club upon the raising of central doors.

The yacht's design is striking and exudes power, aligning with the owner's intentions. The row of darkly glazed windows on the main deck exudes an air of intrigue, appearing either sinister or, for those not easily intimidated, undeniably imposing. The rounded aft deck structure softens the lines slightly, balancing the forward-leaning design with a functional foredeck and a raked bow.

Kosatka's interior maintains a balance between luxury and practicality, offering a range of amenities and spaces that cater to the diverse needs of those on board.

Interior Design

Rare white sycamore veneers grace the paneling and furniture, creating a bright and refined atmosphere. Mother-of-pearl inlays add a subtle decorative element without overwhelming the senses. The design also uses tooled leather and tapestry walls to introduce texture and depth to the spaces. Marquetry and marble are employed strategically to accentuate the luxurious ambiance, while stainless steel, ebony, and untreated teak provide contemporary contrasts.

The main deck, traditionally reserved for saloons and dining areas, hosts the impressive pool, redefining the use of space on board. The saloon and piano lounge, along with a designated tearoom, are relocated to an upper deck, optimizing views and creating a welcoming space for socialization and relaxation. This move also allows for outdoor dining in a more elevated position, taking advantage of the yacht's vistas. The integration of gel-burning fireplaces creates a cozy atmosphere, conducive to social gatherings or peaceful solitude.

Accommodation

Kosatka's accommodations are thoughtfully designed to cater to the comfort and privacy of its guests. The yacht can host 12 guests within six suites. The vessel features a distinguished owner suite located on the main deck. This suite is graced with rare white sycamore paneling and mother-of-pearl inlays, creating an environment that is both sophisticated and restful. The main bathroom is adorned with sugar onyx and various accent stones that enhance its visual appeal.

In addition to the master suite, Kosatka houses a second master suite on the lower deck. This suite is notable for its large terrace situated just above the sea level, offering guests an intimate connection with the ocean. Kotsatka is equipped with VIP guest cabins, each rendered in a modern style while maintaining an air of understated elegance through the choice of materials and design. For larger parties, the three twin guest cabins along the lower accommodation corridor provide comfortable and stylish quarters for additional guests.

Kosatka operates with a complement of 18 crew members, yet it has the capacity to house up to 25 individuals when including additional staff and pilots. The crew areas are designed by the captain himself, ensuring that these spaces are not only functional but also offer a space for relaxation and exercise in the bow.

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by twin diesel MTU (16V 4000 M70) 3,154hp engines, motor yacht Kosatka is capable of reaching a top speed of 17 knots, and comfortably cruises at 12 knots. With her 335,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 6,000 nautical miles at 12 knots. She has been fitted with stabilizers to increase on-board comfort when the yacht is at anchor, particularly in rough waters.

Tenders

A Novurania and a custom Yachtwerft Meyer limo tender are housed in tender garages.
