Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and superstructure she features a 10.8m beam and a 3.2m draft. The yacht is built over 4 decks with an internal volume of 585 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Construction started in mid 2005. She was delivered to her owners in June 2009.
Exterior Design
The exterior design of the yacht Masquenada underwent significant modifications during its refit to accommodate the owner's requirements for enhanced functionality and comfort. The most notable change was the complete redesign of the main deck aft. The stern had previously been extended, but further adjustments were made to create an open-air beach club. This area now features easy access to the water and the main salon and can house multiple tenders and toys.
The aft bulwarks were cut away to provide a flush deck with clear views, suitable for helicopter operations. The transom was restructured into a swim platform for direct water access. The old deck crane was replaced with a custom-built, 7.5-tonne capacity crane that can be stored out of sight in a dedicated compartment below deck. This modification required cutting off the stern section and adding a new aft block. Naval architect Francesco Rogantin reconfigured the underwater lines to complement the new transom design.
Both the upper and bridge decks were expanded, with the aft overhangs extended by 1.5 meters, providing additional shade below. The bridge deck now accommodates gym equipment and two sailing dinghies, which can be stored in a covered bay that also functions as a sunbed. The upper deck is arranged for al fresco dining and lounging, while the top deck serves as an observation platform with a BBQ-galley.
The refit also included servicing the original twin Caterpillar 3508 engines and installing a new exhaust system. New propellers and reconfigured hull lines contributed to an increase of 1.5 knots in top speed. Noise reduction was prioritized, with new generators housed in sound-proof boxes and mounted on vibration dampers to minimize noise transmission through the hull.
Interior Design
The design, crafted by Misa Poggi, utilizes a combination of contrasting dark and light wood joinery, creating a balanced and inviting environment. Saddle-stitched leather and brushed bronze accents add a touch of refinement, while parchment, bamboo, and woven finishes contribute an exotic element to the decor.
The main salon features a spacious layout that encourages relaxation and social interaction. The installation of a 2-meter wide door enhances the connection with the exterior aft deck, allowing for a seamless flow between indoor and outdoor spaces. This area is designed for both comfort and functionality, with ample seating and a warm ambiance.
Accommodation
Masquenada offers accommodation for up to 12 guests, ensuring a comfortable and intimate experience during extended voyages. The yacht features a master stateroom strategically positioned on the upper deck forward, providing privacy and enhanced sea views. The owner's lounge adjacent to the stateroom benefits from modified bulwarks, fitted with electrically controlled louvers for adjustable shading and privacy.
Guest accommodations include two suites located on the main deck and three additional suites on the lower deck. These cabins are designed with contrasting dark and light wood joinery, combined with saddle-stitched leather and brushed bronze accents, creating a refined yet welcoming atmosphere. She is also capable of carrying up to 11 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.
