Delivered in 1995, Montkaj is a 78.05m motor yacht built by Dutch shipyard Amels. Her interior design and exterior styling comes from the drawing boards of Terence Disdale, while Amels is responsible for her naval architecture.

Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure Montkaj features a 12.89m beam and a 3.9m draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 1,980 GT (Gross Tonnes). A significant refit in 1999 saw her length increase by three meters.

The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards.

Exterior Design

The yacht Montkaj is characterized by its graceful design, featuring a white hull and superstructure contrasted with a bold black bootstrap along the water's edge. Ample portholes in the hull and slim, vertical ones on the main deck fill the interiors with natural light.

Gunwale openings and fairleads add visual interest along the main deck level and meet the raked bow that gently curves towards the foredeck. A prominent mast stands aft of the initial foredeck operational space.

Curvilinear deck levels create a distinctive profile, enhanced by circular glazing on the upper and bridge decks. Louvered sections between decks and dynamic steel grill sections atop the radar mast canopy contribute to the yacht's aesthetic appeal.

A helipad is situated on the aft sky deck. The vertical stern features high sides with an open staircase descending from the main deck aft to a fixed bathing platform. Twin columns flank the vertical transom door, and a passerelle extends from the port side transom, which can be used as a diving board.

Interior Design

Montkaj is a royal yacht owned by Prince Mohammed bin Fahd al Saud. The yacht is highly private and was one of the most secretive builds ever undertaken by Amels. Authorized interior photographs do not exist in the public domain, reflecting its confidentiality. The interior and exterior styling were created by the British designer Terence Disdale.

Accommodation

It is understood that the yacht can accommodate 24 guests throughout 12 staterooms, and a crew of 22 are onboard to provide full guest service.

Performance & Capabilities

Motor yacht Montkaj is capable of reaching a top speed of 18 knots, and comfortably cruises at 15 knots.

Special Features

Montkaj has little deck space, in line with a family preference for discretion, but she has exceptional interior volume with panoramic exterior views, including an owner’s suite said to extend over two decks in the forward part of the yacht and 12 guest cabins. Her fibre-optic lighting provides an impressive display at night.
