Fountaine Pajot Boats History & Heritage

Fountaine Pajot, originating in 1976 on the French Atlantic coast as builders of sailing dinghies, has evolved into a major force in catamaran manufacturing. The brand's journey began with passionate sailors and racers Jean-François Fountaine, Yves Pajot, Daniel Givon, and Rémi Tristan, who founded the shipyard and achieved success in championship-winning centerboard sailing dinghies.

In 1981, the shipyard ventured into multihulls, producing winning trimarans piloted by Jean-François Fountaine. The debut catamaran, Louisiane 37, marked a significant milestone. Over the subsequent decades, Fountaine Pajot's catamaran fleet expanded, highlighted by the revolutionary Taïti 75 in the 80s and 90s, transforming the commercial day charter market.

The shipyard entered the power catamaran realm in 1998 with the launch of the Maryland 37 and Greenland 34, designed by renowned French naval architects Joubert & Nivelt. Michel Joubert, later known for designing Beneteau's Swift Trawler range, played a pivotal role.

In 2015, Fountaine Pajot introduced an innovative Motor Yacht range with the MY37, extending the series to include power cats ranging from 11-20m (36-66ft), marking a new chapter in the brand's storied history. Explore the evolution of Fountaine Pajot's craftsmanship and innovation in catamaran manufacturing.
