The sportsbridge yacht mixes sports yacht and flybridge design to create one hugely enjoyable hybrid.
In simple terms a sportsbridge utilises the hull design and deck of a sports yacht, including its performance prowess, aft cockpit and tender garage, deck salon and cabins, adding a bridge deck above what would be the hardtop.
Unlike a flybridge, the sportsbridge usually works in a sunroof for the deck salon, adding yet more emotion and sporty feel to the yacht.
The sportsbridge has to stay ultra lean and low to retain that sleek sports profile, and so cannot match a traditional flybridge for space, but it does a pretty good job, with lots of seating and lounging space, plus, of course, a fantastic elevated helm position from which to harness and enjoy the yacht’s power.
There is a lot to like here, and so it comes as no surprise that the number of new sportsbridge models has increased massively.
Models tend to start nearer to 15m, and often 20m, where the yachts can more easily absorb the bridge design, but can then run well into 30m superyacht territory.
