Scheduled to run between 23-26 September, the 2020 Monaco Yacht Show is now to celebrate it's pearl anniversary edition with its accustomed line up of premium superyachts for sale.
Following on from the cancellation of several yachting events in the 2020 calendar, such as the Palm Beach International Yacht Show, the postponing of the 2020 Monaco Yacht Show (MYS) until 2021 indicates the strong influence that COVID-19 still holds over the yachting industry.
Although many shipyards like Tankoa and the Ferretti Group have now returned to their facilities, the safety of crew and visitors during such a high profile event remains a concern.
With much of the superyacht fleet currently located in the US and Caribbean and the normal calendar of activity severely disrupted, it has been agreed that it is in the industry’s best interests to postpone the delivery of a top quality, prestige experience 30th edition of the Monaco Yacht Show next year, in September 2021, rather than September 2020.

Early indications of a potential cancellation began to emerge in May 2020, when a considerable amount of SYBAss (Superyacht Builders Association) and LYBRA (The Large Yacht Brokers Association) members withdrew from the show listing due to coronavirus concerns.
Retractions from the show were publicised through a letter to Informa which honed in on doing 'the right thing' and bringing 'the show forward so that it actually achieves what it professes to'.
Shipyards included in the listing of retractions included Amels, Sanlorenzo, Benetti and Heesen.
Although the 2020 Monaco Yacht Show has been cancelled, show organisers Informa have confirmed that as it stands the 2020 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) is still to take place in October.
