Monaco Yacht Show prepares for inaugural Honours ceremony

The latest edition of the Monaco Yacht Show adds a new element to the show proceedings with an exclusive ceremony honouring some of the most inspiring people in the industry.

Taking place on the eve of the boat show, The Honours will present three accolades during an experiential evening celebrating the stories of the three winners.

Organised in collaboration between The Superyacht Life Foundation and the Monaco Yacht Show, The Honours look to recognise individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the yachting industry, or have had input in pushing forward in the measures of sustainability and creating a greener yachting lifestyle.

Already having sold commitments to enhancing eco-awareness throughout the yachting world through events such as Ocean Week, Monaco now takes another step into recognising those going beyond their means to find and develop alternative methods to lessen impact on the environment.

Receiving more than 360 nominations for the inaugural Honours ceremony, an expert panel of industry peers had the hard task of whittling down the numbers to find the first-ever Honourees.

This year's judging panel was chaired by Tony Harris, Superyacht Industry Ambassador of Informa Markets, with panel members including the world-renowned yacht designer Espen Øino; Jonathan Beckett, Chief Executive of leading brokerage house Burgess; Farouk Nefzi, CMO at superyacht builder Feadship; Merijn de Waard, Founder of Superyacht Times; Jeroen Sirag, Marketing Director at sailing yacht builder Royal Huisman; and Francesca Fenucci, CCO at BWA Yachting.

Being judged on a range of criteria, each nominee is considered in terms of their influence on the yachting industry, their character, ethics and personal values, and commitment to their respective field.

The chosen winners will each receive a Bowsprit award which has been designed to represent guiding spirits, with a bow leading forward through waves.

Scheduled to take place on 26 September, The Honours will precede the 2023 Monaco Yacht Show
