Sailing boat builder announces first motor yacht

British-based builder Rustler Yachts has launched its first motor yacht, the 12.5m (41ft) Rustler 41, after more than 50 years of building sailing yachts.

Renowned sailing boat builder Rustler Yachts has launched its first motor yacht after eight years of planning.

The 12.5m (41ft) Rustler 41 has been designed by Tony Castro and combines a fast planing hull, with what the yard is describing as a ‘classically elegant’ look and a ‘high-quality interior’. The deep-V planing hull is expected to have a cruising speed of 25 knots and a top speed of 35 knots.

“It’s designed as a perfect ‘gentleman’s launch’ as they used to be called,” Tony Castro explains. “This boat is all about pride of ownership, it’s not just a tool or a vehicle you go out in for the weekend.”

Rustler Director Adrian Jones concurs, adding: “We’re not trying to reinvent the wheel here. We are simply refining the design to make it work well, then building it properly with no corners cut.”

Rustler has over 50 years of experience in building sailing boats, with the yard priding itself on providing a bespoke service to its clients. This will be the case for its new motor yacht with each Rustler 41 hand-built, with any part of the yacht able to be customized. Equally any type of power train can be fitted and the motor yacht is not tied to any engine manufacturer.

The standard layout features a wheelhouse with forward-facing helm seats and space for two people to sit together. A nearby dinette table can drop down to make a third double berth or a daybed if required.

The cockpit features a wet bar and a through-transom door that gives easy access to the boarding/bathing platform, which can also be used to stow a jet RIB. There are side doors in the hull for ease of access when the boat is moored and two cabins below deck.

British-based Rustler has a range of sailing yachts that go from the 7.4m (24ft) Rustler 24 to the 17.4m (57ft) Rustler 57. All are hand-built at its Falmouth yard.
