Italian builder Tankoa has announced it has sold its first 55m (180ft) T55 Sportiva, as it looks to build upon what was a record-breaking year in 2021 for the Genoa-based yard.
The T55 is the first yacht in its new Sportiva Line that was unveiled online in June last year and sports some “design solutions never seen before in a yacht in her class” according to the builder. Notably it remains under 500GT, rare for a 55m (180ft) superyacht, and designer Luca Dini has made a conscious decision to move the tender garage to the front of the yacht, reserving the area at the stern for a large beach club.
"We believed in this new project right from the start," says Giuseppe Mazza, Tankoa Sales & Marketing Manager. "In addition to the beautiful external lines, the Sportiva 55 has some design solutions never before seen in a yacht in her class, such as the large window with an "under and over the water" view located in the fitness room adjacent to the beach club. Thanks to his experience and skill, Luca Dini has managed to integrate all the best features into a 55-metre yacht while remaining under 500 GT."
The large beach club is undoubtedly one of the highlights of the new design. It combines the main deck and lower deck into a single area for relaxation with a swimming pool sunk into the terraced aft deck and easy access to a wellness area, complete with gym and sauna.
The T55 has five guest cabins on the lower deck, with a master stateroom on the main deck with an open-air chaise lounge and Jacuzzi and access to a private sauna. It also sports a bridge deck with skylounge and a sun deck with a forward hot tub, sunbeds and a bar.
A T45 Sportiva and T65 Sportiva are also in development and, like the T55, they will boast an aggressive and sporty profile and a bow that is a mix of a vertical and traditional bow.

Tankoa is relatively new to the superyacht world, debuting its first yacht 69.3m (227ft) SUERTE in 2015, but it has already made quite an impression on the industry. It concluded last year by selling its first T450 superyacht and revealed the contract had made 2021 a record year for Tankoa.
"This new sale confirms the validity of our commercial strategy," says, Eva Orsi, Tankoa President. "What's more, it also gives continuity to our order portfolio and will allow us to continue investing in infrastructure, research and innovation. With the current market situation, we're looking to 2022 with great confidence and the awareness that the Tankoa brand is a rising star in luxury yachting."
Despite only having delivered five yachts to date Tankoa has already picked up a number of accolades including a World Superyachts Award, a Boat International Design and Innovation Award and a World Yachts Trophy. To explore its award-winning fleet further view all Tankoa yachts for sale.
