Nimbus Boats History & Heritage
Founded by Hans Wiklund in 1968, Nimbus has been a prominent name in the yachting industry, situated near Gothenburg on Sweden's west coast.
The initial success of Nimbus can be traced back to its 8m (26ft) cabin cruisers, which gained widespread popularity and continue to sail today. In the 1980s, tennis star Björn Borg became the face of Nimbus, contributing to the brand's success.
Nimbus embraced composite sandwich construction in 1985 and advanced further with vacuum infusion in 1997. Notably, the company demonstrated an early commitment to environmentally sustainable manufacturing practices in 1999. In 2000, Nimbus introduced a fuel-efficient stepped hull design. Recognized for its environmental efforts, Nimbus began offering electric-powered boats in collaboration with Torqeedo in 2016.
