On Deck

The Aquila 70 has a clever tender handling system. The whole centre section at the stern hinges down to form a slipway into the water. The tender, about 4.3m (14ft) long, hooks on and pulls up the ramp to rest on stainless steel chocks before being powered back into position.

The cockpit area is a very good size. Doors can close it off from the saloon. The beam is about 8.2m (27ft), giving the yacht a large, open feel.

Wide decks make the boat easy to move around. A Portuguese bridge leads around the front of the upper deck, with straight access down to the foredeck. Sunbathing cushions and seating are set into the bow. Enormous lockers under the foredeck can be fitted out as crew cabins with heads.

The upper deck has a large outdoor space with seating and a bar area. Plans include a proper bar top with stools, shifting the barbecue and sink setup. There’s a TV, a table that opens out for dining, and an opening hatch above.

Solar panels will be fitted around the front and roof if the solar pack is chosen. A hybrid drive option is also on the way.

A wing station folds away neatly for docking.

Interior Accommodation

The main deck saloon has a very comfortable lounge with a big TV and a dining area forward. There's a real feeling of space.

The galley is large and well-equipped, ideal for family use. It features a bar area, fridge and freezer space, a wine cooler, a cappuccino machine, an oven, dishwasher, and other mod cons. The galley, bar, and social space connect into one large area.

Blinds are used to help the air conditioning on hot days. The saloon doors are manual on this hull but future builds will have push-button pneumatic doors and a flush threshold.

Storage under the saloon floor is impressive. It houses water tanks, lithium iron battery banks, inverters, and space for electric scooters, sea bobs, and other toys.

There’s a control area in the saloon, too. Repeat throttles, joystick control, and multi-function displays are installed for monitoring and driving from inside.

Owner's Cabin

The owner's cabin is forward in the bow and is a huge space. It has a big bed, massive wardrobes, AV equipment, and a little dressing table area. A chill-out zone sits to one side.

The ensuite has twin sinks, a separate toilet area, and a large shower with rainfall head and wand.

Guest Accommodation

There are three guest cabins inside the boat plus an additional cabin accessible from outside. A five-cabin interior layout is an option by converting the utility area.

Guest Cabin 1 has a proper walk-around bed, a wardrobe, and an ensuite with a nice finish and separate shower.

The utility area sits between cabins and holds a washer, dryer, and plenty of storage. It can be converted into another guest cabin if needed, using the day heads nearby.

Guest Cabin 2 is very generous with walk-around space, hanging lockers, storage, and an ensuite. Views from the bed straight out across the water give it a relaxed feel.

TVs in the guest cabins drop down from the ceiling at the push of a button, tilting to the right angle for viewing.

The third cabin, accessed from outside, is guest standard with its own ensuite. It has a little desk area, control systems, and some switch gear. Ideal for teenagers or crew.

Performance

Engine access is straightforward through doors in the guest areas. Twin Volvo Penta D13 engines produce 1,000hp each. Flat out, the yacht runs at about 27 knots, cruising between 20-25 knots. At 24 knots, range is around 450 nautical miles. At displacement speeds, range increases to over 3,000 nautical miles.

Fuel tanks are positioned low under the floors to keep the centre of gravity down, feeding into day tanks through a fuel polishing system.

The generator and a water maker are installed in the engine rooms. The propulsion system uses conventional shafts but the rudders are independently controlled like IPS drives, giving joystick manoeuvrability. This setup means the rudders can point in different directions for better docking control.

In Summary

The Aquila 70 is a big step forward in power catamarans, with serious long-distance capability or quick cruising options. This hull is the first off the line, so future builds will feature updates like powered doors, improved upper deck finishes, and better glazing.

The yacht combines relaxed family spaces with practical cruising systems. The big walk-around decks, flexible accommodation, strong storage, and joystick control make it easy for owner-operators.
