On Deck
The Galeon 440 features a new window line, a distinctive swooping design that is a recent addition to Galeon's boats. Another great exterior feature are two drop balconies on the yacht, which have the ability to power down to increase the space massively at the back of the boat. Nick demonstrates how the balcony works, showing the ease of operation with a button that activates the mechanism.
The yacht's hi-lo platform is capable of carrying a Williams jet rib, and has a ladder that converts into steps into the water. A large wetbar and barbeque are here, along with a sink and additional storage for items like canopies, ideal for outdoor entertainment.
Inside the cockpit, due to the opening and closing balconies, Galeon has provided a versatile backrest that can be reversed, providing seating that looks out over the water, and a table that unfolds for dining. The bifold doors that connect the cockpit to the interior enhance the social aspect of the space.
Up on the flybridge, a barbecue, seating area with a clever expandable table, and an upper helm with a full suite of controls are all provided. There is further sunbathing on the foredeck.
Interior
The Galeon 440 Fly's interior has a variety of choices in woodwork finishes and design. The saloon has convenient placement of light switches, and a stereo system. Large windows offer views out over the water, particularly when the balcony is down.
The galley, positioned on the main deck, includes necessary appliances and storage, with good integration with social areas.
The helm features flush-mounted instruments, Raymarine Axiom display, and Volvo Penta engine display. The side door at the helm provides easy access to the side deck and additional ventilation.
On the lower deck, the 440 Fly has a three-cabin layout, a rarity for a yacht of this size. The VIP guest cabin can have customizable elements and features large hull windows. The third cabin has bunk beds. An alternative two-cabin layout offers a larger heads and central island bed.
The owner's cabin is impressively spacious and features plenty of storage options and an en suite with a separate shower.
Performance
The engine space houses generators, air conditioning and a pair of Volvo Penta D6-440 engines. These provide a top speed of 28 knots, cruising at 25 knots providing a range of 250 nautical miles. The 440 Fly has the option for Volvo Penta IPS-650 engines to be installed for increased speed and efficiency.
