Interior

The Hatteras 65GT has a wonderful contemporary interior, a departure from the traditional teak furnishings often found on such boats. There is a spacious saloon area, ample storage, and a TV that rises from the counter.

The galley offers many layout options. The model toured has a peninsular galley, but an island galley is also available. The boat has plenty of cold storage and a dinette area as well. Moving to the accommodation, the owner's cabin has an ensuite and a cedar-lined walk-in wardrobe. The boat's air conditioning, which was running during the tour, is a lovely feature.

The classic feature of sports fishers is featured - a tackle room. This area can be fitted for rod storage and contains a command area. The room could be converted into another cabin for occasional use. The remaining cabins and ensuites all have a lovely finish, and layouts that can be customized to the owner's preference.

On Deck

The fishing usually takes place on the aft-deck, noting the rod holders along the sides and the seating raised up and pushed far back.

The flat foredeck featured is typical of this type of boat. Up on the flybridge, the helm is positioned aft to allow communication with those fishing at the back of the boat. There is a ladder leading to the tuna tower for spotting and the great view from the relatively low seating area here.

Performance

The tour continued to the engine room, accessed by moving a cushion. Here, there are two gyro stabilizers, which use gyroscopic force to keep the boat stable. The boat is powered by CAT 1900s, which enabled it to reach an impressive 42 knots. The engine room is very well-organized, with neatly clipped and routed wiring, freshwater maker, and backup generators. The steering gear and rudder tops are noted to be easily accessible.
