The Pearl 62 is a British-built fast flybridge yacht designed for Owner operation and cruising. Offering good four cabins, a rare feature at this length, and excellent space across the yacht’s interior and decks, the Pearl 62 is a class leader and award-winner. Its twin pod drive engines deliver an impressive 34-knot top speed with efficient cruising and joystick control. The Italian-built Absolute 62 offers a near-identical specification to the Pearl 62, aside from one key aspect. Sharing very similar dimensions, layouts, propulsion, performance and progressive style, these two yachts represent the latest in modern flybridge design. The only significant difference is on cabin numbers, with the Absolute offering three as opposed to the Pearl’s four.

Performance

Both of these yachts feature fast planing hulls and pod drives powered by Volvo Penta engines. Top speed figures look similar too, with both yachts pushing past 30 knots with ease. The Absolute 62 does this with its standard twin 725hp D11 IPS950 engines, the Pearl 62 needs the uprated 900hp D13 IPS1200 to hit the same heights. The Pearl’s standard D11 IPS900 engines will hit around 27 knots. With fuel tank capacities again similar, both yachts’ ranges should offer the same kind of reach.

Interior

You will do well to find two brighter or more spacious flybridge models at this size point. Both share a galley aft layout with a separate dining area leading to facing lounge seating. Both deck salons are flanked by huge, deep sections of glass to open up the interior and offer guests the best views, extenuated by clever cutaway bulwarks on deck.

Accommodation

Pearl has done a superb job in delivering this four-cabin layout, with two proper twin guest cabins amidships to the Absolute’s one. The forward VIP cabin on each yacht is excellent. The Owners’ cabins are amidships and similarly luxurious with full standing headroom, a lounge area and hull windows. The Pearl’s Owner will also enjoy a private entrance from the salon and a large en suite.

Helm Station

The lower helm stations on both yachts are simply excellent, with superb visibility, a side deck door and chunky twin helm seats. These features together make for a helm station you will want to use and that are ideal for longer cruises. They are also, oddly, a fairly rare trio on other yachts in this class. For fans of tech, the Absolute 62 also has space for two big MFD screens.

Deck Areas

These two yachts are hard to separate on deck, with forward cockpit lounges, safe, wide side decks and social, luxurious aft decks. The galley aft design allows the interior to merge with the aft deck too, a neat bar area connecting inside with out.

Flybridge

Two very spacious and intelligently simple flybridge designs on show here, with sun pads and dining areas to enjoy. The central part of the flybridge can be covered with an optional hardtop, the open aft decks can be kept clear for free-standing loungers or fitted-out with more seating. Both yachts feature central wet bars, the Pearl’s is an impressively-large L-shape unit.

Compare Layouts

As two near-identical size yachts, with very similar layouts, it is surprising how Pearl has managed to deliver its four-cabin layout without any apparent compromise. Both Owner’s and forward VIP cabins are similarly large, so the feat of finding space for two further guests cabins is quite an achievement by Pearl.
