Performance

Sunseeker has a long and near-unmatched pedigree in building fast, capable sports yachts. The Predator 60 EVO continues this legacy with agile handling up to 34knots from a choice of Volvo Penta shaft or pod drive engines. The top-rated 1000hp 6-cylinder D13 engines running on shafts hit 34knots while the 725hp IPS950 pod drives still manage a very respectable 32knots. A range of around 220nm at 21 knots is quoted. The Princess runs on shafts, its impressive 38-knot top speed delivered by a modified Vee hull and twin MAN V8 1000hp engines. Almost as impressive is a quoted 32-knot top speed, giving Owners a very fast way of getting port-to-port.

Interior

The Sunseeker deck salon is dedicated to lounging, with the galley below decks. The salon is designed to merge with the outside lounge, the glass cockpit doors completely folding away leaving one long spread of social space. With a glass-panelled sunroof deployed the salon feels very open. The Princess feels more interior focused with a larger salon that flows from a lounge into a galley aft design with an adjoining dining area. It too has a glass sunroof and cockpit doors that slide away for the salon to open seamlessly onto the cockpit.

Accommodation

There is little to separate the two Owners’ cabins. Both lie amidships with a central double berth, hull-side windows, mood lighting, neat lounge areas and lots of cabinetry. Even the en suites are similarly positioned.

Helm Station

These two helms are hard two separate, both have smart, sporty angular dash designs built around two MFD screens. Supportive and sumptuously upholstered helm seats are joined by sporty steering wheels, the Sunseeker’s smart wheel allowing communication with navigation displays. Both helm positions feel designed to handle and enjoy the 30-knot performance, the glass sunroofs and tall windscreens giving excellent visibility. With the roofs open you can even enjoy some real wind-in-the-hair boating.

Deck Areas

Where the Princess enjoys more interior space, the Sunseeker wins on aft deck luxury. Its cockpit features a full lounge leading to a sunpad lying above the tender garage. The Princess’ aft deck also has a sunpad and tender garage, joined by a simple but effective U-shape dining area, however, there is also a proper forward cockpit with seating, where the Sunseeker only has a sunpad.

Compare Layouts

Both yachts have very similar layouts, but with notable differences. Above decks, the Princess has a dual salon design offering lounge seating forwards and a galley and dining area aft. The Sunseeker opts for a more equal split between interior and exterior space but also locates the galley below decks. This may be the reason why the Sunseeker has a bunked third cabin whereas the Princess has space for a proper twin-berth quarters, the V60’s extra LOA may also play a part.
