Design & Construction
Designed around a planing carbon fibre hull and superstructure she features a 20'4" beam and a 5'8" draft. The yacht is built over 2 decks with an internal volume of 72 GT (Gross Tonnes).
This was the second yacht built on the Delta 88 design.
Exterior Design
The yacht's exterior presents a straightforward and functional style, with a pronounced vertical profile that affords considerable interior volume. Hull number two of the limited five-model series, Njord boasts a distinctive aesthetic, characterized by its upright stance and clean lines.
The yacht's stern incorporates a sizeable fixed swim platform, complemented by a centrally positioned transformer platform capable of elevation or submersion to facilitate access or water entry. The aft also houses a tender garage capable of storing a small tender, further enhanced by the transformer's ability to lower the tender into the water. Symmetrical stairs lead to the main deck, reinforcing the yacht's balanced and pragmatic design.
Njord's Scandinavian heritage is evident in its exterior functionality, including a retractable passerelle for convenient boarding in various docking situations. The cockpit area is expansive, featuring a large dining table surrounded by bench seating and additional chairs, all sheltered by an awning for shade.
The yacht's flybridge is accessible via stairs leading from the cockpit, offering an additional helm station with full controls, expansive seating, and a convertible table, all catering to outdoor entertainment needs. Below, the bow area is designed for relaxation, with a sizeable sun pad and an adjustable table for al fresco dining or lounging, further underlining the yacht's focus on practical luxury.
Interior Design
Natural light is a significant feature within the main salon, achieved through expansive windows that also offer panoramic views. The lighting within Njord is strategically placed to enhance the interior ambiance, with LED fixtures and discreet accent lighting that underlines the yacht's contemporary feel without being intrusive.
The dining area is positioned to allow for guest interaction, with a formal dining table that is both elegant and practical. Surrounded by ample storage for glassware and dinnerware, this space is ideal for hosting meals in a convivial atmosphere. The galley, equipped with high-end appliances, is designed with an open layout, maintaining the visual flow of the interior. It includes a double sink, a built-in dishwasher, and ample preparation surfaces, ensuring a functional space for culinary endeavors.
The helm is characterized by its clean lines and uncluttered layout, featuring state-of-the-art navigation and control systems. The user-friendly interface is complemented by bolster seats that provide comfort and support, even at higher cruising speeds. This area is designed to offer the captain unimpeded control of the yacht, with all the necessary tools and information within easy reach.
Accommodation
Njord provides overnight quarters for up to eight guests across four well-appointed staterooms, each finished with attention to detail and comfort in mind.
The VIP cabin, situated at the bow, is a dedicated suite for guests who prefer a space that is both exclusive and elegant. This cabin features ample built-in storage and is equipped with its own entertainment system, boasting a television for private viewing. The suite benefits from natural light through a hatch, which also serves as an emergency exit or additional ventilation if desired. The VIP cabin includes its own private ensuite, ensuring convenience and privacy for its occupants.
The yacht's lower deck also houses three additional staterooms, maintaining a high standard of comfort and luxury. Two of these rooms feature a versatile sleeping arrangement with two single beds and an additional pullman berth, ideal for guests or children. Each of these cabins comes with substantial storage space and their own entertainment systems, including a television. Ensuite facilities are a standard feature, providing convenience and privacy for all guests on board.
Reserved for the yacht's owner is the full beam master suite, strategically located amidships for optimal comfort and reduced motion at sea. This expansive stateroom is a testament to thoughtful design, dividing the space into distinct areas for rest and relaxation. One side of the suite features a large, comfortable bed by the window, while the opposite side offers a lounge area complete with a desk, ideal for moments of solitude or work. The suite boasts a walk-in closet, providing generous storage space for personal belongings. The master bathroom is equipped with dual vanities, a separate toilet room, and a spacious shower, all finished with the same high-quality materials and fixtures found throughout the yacht.
Crew accommodations are also present on Njord, ensuring that up to three crew members can reside onboard, always ready to provide a seamless and professional service to guests. The crew quarters include facilities such as a mess area, a cooktop, a sink, refrigerators, and a microwave, all finished to a high standard in keeping with the rest of the vessel. Sleeping arrangements for the crew include a bunk room and a separate head with a shower, providing the crew with their own comfortable and private living space.
Performance & Capabilities
Njord is propelled by a trio of Volvo Penta IPS-1200 diesel engines, each delivering a robust 900 horsepower. These high-performance engines facilitate a smooth and powerful cruising experience. The yacht's cruising speed stands at an impressive 32 knots, which allows passengers to swiftly traverse vast stretches of water with ease. When pushed to her limits, Njord can achieve a top speed of 38 knots.
An additional benefit of the carbon fiber construction is the notable fuel efficiency it provides. Njord demonstrates up to 40% better fuel consumption when compared to yachts of equivalent size but conventional build materials. This not only translates to cost savings during operation but also aligns with a more environmentally conscious approach to yachting. With her fuel tanks holding up to 5,400 liters, Njord has a commendable range of approximately 645 nautical miles when cruising at 26 knots, allowing for extended voyages without the need for frequent refueling stops.
For those concerned with onboard comfort, Njord is equipped with at-anchor stabilizers, which serve to reduce roll motion and ensure a tranquil environment for guests, regardless of whether the yacht is underway or stationary. This is particularly beneficial during extended stays at anchor, providing a stable platform for relaxation and onboard activities.
The yacht’s water storage capacity includes approximately 1,200 liters of fresh water, supporting the needs of guests and crew with a reliable supply for all onboard requirements.
Amenities
In addition, a swim platform provides easy access to the ocean. Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort. Crowning the yacht is a spacious sundeck with an inviting spread of sunpads.
