Dayboating Boats For Sale

There's a saying: "the smaller the boat the bigger the smile". Dayboating is all about pure enjoyment—cruising the waters and returning to base by day's end, free from the complexities that larger yachts bring, like cabins, maintenance, and size. It's a straightforward and joyful form of boating.

Dayboats can exceed 10 meters in length, offering some protection from the elements, whether sun, wind, or rain. Their hulls are designed to handle local sea conditions comfortably.

Many dayboats also feature a separate cabin, providing a place to change or rest after a day on the water. A galley area, fridge, and storage space for food and extra clothes are essential, especially if you plan to enjoy lunch onboard, the weather changes or you decide to spend a night out on anchor somewhere beautiful.

Dayboating Yachts FAQ

We're committed to making yacht buying easier, so if you can't find what you're looking for just ask.

  • You do not need a licence to operate a yacht under 24m, however, common sense, and quite possibly local laws, require you to be competent. It is advisable to take lessons, such as the RYAs internationally recognised Day Skipper course, and ensure your guests are aware of and comfortable with the boat's operation.

  • Let us presume you will be staying close to shore, and your home port. The list can then be broken down into a few different categories. Firstly you need to ensure the crew is catered for, so water, food, warm clothes, sunscreen and First Aid. The next is some basic safety equipment such as an anchor, flares, a GPS and VHF. Then you must ensure the boat itself is fuelled and correctly prepared for a day on the water. Always prepare as if you are to be away from port for a day, even if you only intend an hour.

If you plan to go further afield, a proper passage plan is required. More information on this subject can be found in the Guide section.
