Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement GRP hull and superstructure she features a 9m beam and a 2.36m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 499 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Construction started in late 2006 with the keel laid under the project name 'Monkey Business'. She was delivered to her owners in August 2009.

Exterior Design

Odessa departs from Christensen's traditional white yacht design, boasting a striking super jet black hull complemented by a metallic silver superstructure known as 'sandalwood silver'.

The raked bow of Odessa guides the eye to a purposeful foredeck, emphasizing functionality over guest space. Here, tender stowage, launching systems, and anchoring equipment take precedence, ensuring seamless operation. Meanwhile, the aft deck areas and the private forward-facing section on the boat deck abundantly meet guest needs for relaxation and socializing space. Art Deco-inspired deck furniture with cream and soft green accents provides a calming relaxation space.

Odessa's side profile is sleek, characterized by clean lines with subtle curvature where the black hull meets the silver superstructure. The boat deck boasts raised coaming, particularly noticeable at the foredeck, gently curving inward to incorporate side balconies, extending from the forward walkway around the bridge. Generous panels of glazing contribute to an open ambiance throughout the yacht, while sections of the top sides are open, allowing unobstructed views with simple guard rails, enhancing the connection to the surrounding environment. The deck levels are squared off at the stern with gently rounded edges and, on the boat deck, a rounded extension creates interest for the stern profile.

The flybridge is an extensive guest space featuring a raised rectangular jacuzzi pool forward, surrounded by sun pads and a flexible expansive aft deck area including a bar and grill located under the canopy of the communication and navigation tower.

Odessa's exterior at water level is enhanced with underwater lighting, emitting a captivating blue glow that adds drama to the surroundings in low-light conditions. The expansive bathing platform ensures easy access to tenders and toys, facilitated by generously sized doors that extend the area. A notable practical feature is the hydraulic stern gangway by Sanguinetti, extending up to 6 meters (20 feet), facilitating boarding and disembarking from the yacht, ensuring convenience for all passengers.

Odessa showcases a striking super jet black hull and metallic silver superstructure with elegant Art Deco-inspired furnishings, featuring expansive guest areas, a minimalist interior with Asian influences, and robust performance capabilities.

Interior Design

Odessa's interior presents a minimalist aesthetic with subtle Asian influences, emphasizing simplicity and clean lines to create a modern and contemporary atmosphere. The interior design, overseen by Christensen's designers and the owner's representative, showcases furnishings by Armani Casa, marking the first implementation of a European-styled interior aboard a Christensen yacht. Quarter-sawn walnut wall panels feature a horizontal grain orientation, enhancing the sense of space and continuity throughout the yacht. Many rooms feature a detail line, either vertical or horizontal, connecting with side shelve tops or overhead panel breaks, adding a refined touch to the design.

Upon entering the main deck salon through the aft-deck sliders, attention is drawn to the room divider—a 250-gallon saltwater fish tank seemingly floating within its walnut cabinet, providing a captivating transition from the salon to the dining area. The stairway, adorned with an elegant Patina-finished brass and walnut balustrade, spans three decks, while an elevator services all four decks, ensuring easy accessibility throughout the yacht.

Satin black walnut is the predominant material adorning the interior of Odessa, creating a luxurious and cohesive atmosphere. Custom stonework, meticulously crafted by Christensen's artisans, elegantly complements the rich woodwork, adding depth and texture to the design. The sky lounge stands out with its backlit glass-topped onyx bar, encased in a walnut veneer surround. The subtle illumination of the bar creates a mesmerizing and dramatic effect, particularly enchanting during nighttime gatherings.

Accommodation

Odessa offers accommodation for up to 12 guests across six cabins, including an owner's cabin, one VIP cabin, three double cabins, and one twin cabin, ensuring versatility for families and groups of friends. The layout is thoughtfully designed, with the owner's suite on the main deck. Accessed through double pocket doors, the suite features a study adorned with gray upholstered chairs that beautifully contrast with the walnut joinery. The remaining accommodations, comprising five guest staterooms, are located on the lower deck. Four of these staterooms are positioned off the foyer, while the VIP cabin spans the full beam amidships at the aft end of the hallway. The bathrooms are appointed with luxurious finishes, with three featuring white onyx countertops, showers, and soles, while the two forward ensuites boast elegant Eramosa, a stunning Canadian marble.

Odessa provides dedicated quarters for a crew of up to ten. The crew cabins are of excellent quality with the same connectivity the guests enjoy.

Performance & Capabilities

Odessa is powered by twin MTU 12V 4000 Series M60 engines. Each engine produces a maximum continuous output of 1770 horsepower at 1800 rpm, enabling the yacht to reach a top speed of 18 knots. At her cruising speed of 14 knots, Odessa promises both efficiency and power, while an economy speed of 12 knots allows for an impressive range exceeding 4000 nautical miles.

The yacht's propulsion system is complemented by a pair of 5-blade fixed-pitched propellers from Veem, which work alongside ZF 4650A reverse reduction gearboxes. This configuration ensures smooth and reliable navigation across the seas.

Moreover, Odessa is equipped with a Quantum QC 1800 Zero Speed stabilizer system, including twin lateral fins, which provides comfort by minimizing the yacht's roll both at sea and at anchor. This advanced stabilization technology ensures that passengers experience a stable and serene journey, irrespective of sea conditions.

Fuel storage on Odessa is substantial, with tanks capable of holding 14,300 US gallons for primary use and an additional 1,000 US gallons in reserve. Freshwater needs are well catered for, with a capacity of 3,600 US gallons and a Village Marine watermaking system that can produce 4,000 US gallons per day, ensuring ample supply for extended voyages.

Electrical power is supplied by three KOHLER Marine Power diesel generator sets, each encased in sound shield enclosures to reduce noise pollution. These generators provide a reliable source of power and include two main sets, one rated at 125 kW and the other at 99 kW, as well as an emergency generator rated at 65 kW.

Odessa's navigational capabilities are enhanced by top-tier equipment from Furuno, Simrad, B&G, Northstar, and Nobeltec. To further ensure safety and efficiency, these systems are integrated into a comprehensive monitoring network by Hyak Electroworks.

Attention to functionality extends to Odessa's deck hardware, which includes two Maxwell SY-22 electrical anchor windlasses and four Maxwell VC4000 warping capstans, alongside robust anchoring equipment with two anchors each weighing over 772 lbs and 600 ft chains. Tender and watercraft storage solutions are seamlessly incorporated with substantial lifting capabilities provided by Steelhead Marine cranes and davits.

Tenders

The forward bridge deck provides stowage for a 4.5m (15ft) service and rescue tender by Nautica. The main tender, a 7m (23ft) Chris Craft Catalina, is stored on the sun deck aft. A pair of SeaDoo XP model jet-skis and a Laser Vanguard 15 sailboat are also provided onboard.
