Sensei is a 39m motor yacht delivered by Japanese shipyard Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in 1991. The yacht's refined interiors have been crafted by Jonathan Quinn Barnett, while her exteriors have been penned by Glade Johnson Design.
Design & Construction
Designed around a GRP hull and superstructure she features a 8.1m beam and a 2.18m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 289 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Exterior Design
Originally serving as a company entertainment yacht in Japan, Sensei's wide beam and straight sheer line caught the eye of a yacht owner with a unique vision: transforming her into "a mobile life-support system for a Harley-Davidson garage." In her extensive rebuild, Sensei was extended by 4m (13ft), incorporating a new bathing platform and a dedicated garage to house the owner's collection of Harley-Davidson motorcycles.
The newly added teak-decked bathing platform seamlessly integrates into the yacht's stern, enhancing aesthetics and functionality as a prime watersports area. On the port side, direct stairs lead up to the aft deck, while a circular shower enclosure on the starboard side adds convenience. Adjacent to these features is a six-person spa pool, complemented by a flush-fitting solid cover that allows motorcycles to roll out unimpeded when the pool is not in use.
Accommodation
Sensei offers accommodation for up to ten guests in five suites. The owner's cabin is located just forward of the starboard-side lobby, featuring a centerline bed complemented by an elegant, limestone-clad bathroom. On the lower deck, four additional guest staterooms include two twins and two doubles, all of comparable size and accessible from a central corridor.
The interior design scheme blends the yacht's oriental origins with modern Western aesthetics. Antique shoji screens serve as porthole covers, reflecting the yacht's heritage, while carefully coordinated colors and textures cater to contemporary tastes.
The yacht can carry up to eight crew onboard to provide full guest service.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by twin diesel Mitsubishi (S1 2A2-MTK) 1,098hp engines, motor yacht Sensei is capable of reaching a top speed of 13 knots, and comfortably cruises at 12 knots. With her 29,148 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 3,224 nautical miles at 13 knots.
Amenities
Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort.
