Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement ice class steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 18.6m beam and a 5.6m draft. The yacht is built over 7 decks with an internal volume of 8,231 GT (Gross Tonnes). The design also incorporates a heli-pad.

Construction started in mid 2006. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. She was delivered to her owners in August 2011.

Exterior Design

Serene's graceful lines and subtle curves are harmoniously married into the blue hull and white superstructure, giving this grand vessel a svelte silhouette that belies her massive size.

Spread over seven decks, Serene presents a stunning display of proportionate design. The exterior spaces are crafted with meticulous attention to detail, serving a variety of purposes, from relaxation and entertainment to navigation and operational needs. Each deck is unique, featuring a range of facilities and amenities tailored to enhance the onboard experience.

The foredeck is a spacious, yet intimate seating area – a perfect spot for enjoying the open sea vistas. A large screen can be erected at the forward end of the helipad, creating a spectacular open-air cinema for a truly unforgettable movie night under the stars. The helicopter hangar, located in the bow, houses a Eurocopter 145, which is deployed via an elevator platform. The hatch doors above slide outboard to form the outer wings of the helipad, showcasing practical yet innovative design solutions.

The main deck aft is a hub of social activity, with two bars, seating areas, and informal tables surrounding the colossal glass doors that offer a captivating view down to the beach club. When closed, these doors double as a dance floor, adding a dynamic element to the entertainment possibilities. The entire area can be shaded by an awning, providing respite from the sun without compromising the breathtaking views. The upper decks are equally impressive. For instance, on deck five, the prime area for alfresco dining is equipped with a 20-place table, a bar, a barbecue, a pizza oven, and a teppanyaki grill – offering an unparalleled dining experience against the backdrop of the ocean. Aft on the bridge deck above, a circular pool surrounded by sun pads provides an idyllic spot for relaxation and sunbathing.

At the very top of Serene, a further plunge pool flanked by hot and cold spa pools offers a tranquil haven for guests to unwind, while enjoying panoramic views of their surroundings.

M/Y Serene combines graceful lines with a diesel-electric drive, achieving 25-knot top speed and smooth, efficient cruising.

Interior Design

The interior, crafted by the renowned Reymond Langton Design, beautifully combines contemporary elements with influences of Art Deco, creating an environment that is both sophisticated and inviting.

Central to the interior design is a grand spiral staircase that ascends through six decks. This architectural marvel is bathed in natural light from a large skylight at the top, with glass segments at every landing ensuring that light permeates throughout the yacht. Each deck features elegant foyers that lead to their respective spaces, with a delightful guest lift offering an alternative mode of transportation.

The grand entrance at the aft end of decks two and three sets the tone for the lavish experience that awaits on board Serene. A formal dining room on the main deck is paired with a cocktail lounge featuring a grand piano, connected by two sweeping staircases and a large opening in the ceiling, exuding an air of refined elegance.

The master suites on deck five offer spacious rooms with private terraces and a spa pool in the deck pod for unparalleled indulgence. An aft salon, a study, and a circular library/cigar room with leather armchairs and a real log fire further add to the opulence of this deck.

Deck two is home to an impressive guest corridor that bisects the upper level of the engine room, offering a fascinating view of the immaculate mechanical spaces. Here, guests can also find the main aft garage that houses an extensive collection of tenders and a Nautilus diving support system.

The most spectacular area of this deck, however, is the aftermost section that houses the beach club. This space is centered around a 15-meter pool, surrounded by several seating areas, and flanked by shell doors that open to balconies on the sea. The stern door opens to transform the pool into an inboard dock for the tenders, a feature that represents one of the most technologically complex areas of any yacht.

The guest galley on deck two encourages interaction with the chef and crew, offering a unique culinary experience. The main deck aft and the upper levels provide ample open deck spaces for alfresco dining, lounging, and sunbathing. The top deck features a plunge pool flanked by hot and cold spa pools, offering breathtaking panoramic views.

The crowning jewel of Serene's interior design, however, is the Nemo room. Located in the double bottom deck, this cozy space is finished in copper plate, complete with giant rivets, and offers a view of the underwater world through two large glass windows in the ice-classed hull.

Accommodation

Serene features 12 opulent suites, each elegantly designed, allowing for a party of up to 24 guests. Every suite comes with ensuite bath or shower rooms, with many offering spectacular views from their bathtubs, thereby providing an exceptional experience of luxury and comfort to every guest on board.

The yacht's master suites, located on deck five, are spacious, with the forward master suite featuring a private terrace. This private space provides a wonderful sense of indulgence and exclusivity. In addition, for those seeking a unique and exclusive sleeping experience, Serene also offers a contemporary Balinese-style sea cabin, located on deck two. This cabin is designed to provide a comfortable space for guests, particularly when the yacht is on passage.

Serene's guest accommodation also extends to its crew. With the same attention to detail and comfort, the yacht ensures that the crew of up to 62 has a comfortable and functional space to rest and recharge.

Performance & Capabilities

Serene operates on a diesel-electric drive, with eight NITU generators supplying power for both propulsion and domestic systems. The main drive is delivered through fixed shafts and variable pitch propellers, ensuring a smooth and efficient journey.  Serene is capable of reaching a top speed of 25 knots, and comfortably cruises at 15 knots. She has a maximum range of 6,000 nautical miles at 15 knots.

In addition to the main drive system, Serene is also equipped with stern and forward thrusters that aid in maneuvering the yacht. This feature ensures the vessel's agility and responsiveness in various sea conditions, making it easy for the captain to navigate through tight spaces or strong currents.

One of the remarkable features of Serene is her full dynamic positioning system. This advanced technology allows the yacht to maintain its position without anchoring, using its own propellers and thrusters. It offers great convenience when anchoring is not feasible or during delicate operations such as diving or submarine deployment.

Serene's stabilizers play a crucial role in ensuring the comfort of those on board. These systems are designed to reduce the roll motion effect, providing a smoother and more enjoyable experience for guests. Whether at anchor or underway, the stabilizers work to maintain the yacht's balance and stability, making it a comfortable home at sea.

Wellness

There is a state-of-the-art gymnasium and a fully equipped hair salon. A spa on the starboard features his-and-hers changing rooms, a hammam, massage room, and a sauna that overlooks a large shell door, transforming into a beach platform on the water. There is also a unique snow room, capable of creating wintry conditions for an authentic spa experience.
