On Deck

Outside there are split doors which keep out bad weather, and the space for a dinghy on the foredeck.  Also featured on the Nordhavn 63 are two aft-cockpit areas that can be fitted with seating.

The main deck of the Nordhavn 63 features its living area and galley, and beyond the VIP cabin. Throughout the boat there is easy access to engineering spaces located under the floors, including pump rooms and a generator under this particular cabin. Good accessibility to these spaces is crucial for dealing with potential issues during offshore voyages.

Heading to the upper deck, the main helm station features impressive professional equipment. The presence of a day bed and heads here are appreciated, particularly for long passages where the captain needs to be on hand for any problems.

Downstairs, Nick admires the ample space and the design centered around long-range cruising. Passing through an occasional crew cabin before moving on to the engine room.

The easily accessible, walk-in engine room is home to the Lugger 1276, 340 horsepower engine, which provides an impressive range of 3,000-plus miles, as opposed to the typical 300 to 400 miles offered by standard yachts.  There is also a small wing engine which can drive the shaft in case of any issues with the main engine. 

Overall, Nick's tour of the Nordhavn 63 reveals a boat built for serious, long-distance journeys. Its design, with a focus on practicality and accessibility, truly impresses him. He concludes that the Nordhavn 63 is the sort of boat one buys when they are determined to travel to remote places.
