Prestige 420S Gen 2

Two modern Coupe models that ably show off why this design makes such intelligent, easy-going and comfortable cruisers. Perfect for couples and families to handle alone, which one is right for you?

The Sealine C430 is part of a three-yacht, 13.5m line-up from this German builder that includes the S430 with its more open deck design and a full Flybridge model. The C version offers a Coupe design delivering good deck-level accommodation and a two or three cabin layout. Intended for Owner-operation and fast coastal cruising, the 430’s modified Vee hull is powered by pod drives and capable of up to 35 knots.

The Prestige 420S is also available as a flybridge and, in its fixed two-cabin layout, offers an incredibly similar package to the Sealine. There is no three cabin option, though, and the French yacht’s V-drive shaft propulsion here delivers around 30 knots.

Performance

As cruising yachts, range and a comfortable cruising speed are key. The Sealine and Prestige might opt for different propulsion systems but have very similar engine sizes and are both quoting cruising speeds of around 25 knots. Where the Sealine wins and shows the advantages of the pod drives over a shaft, is with its 35-knot top speed which is higher than the Prestige’s 30 knots and suggests a more relaxed, lower RPM cruising speed. With similar fuel tank sizes, the range at fast cruising speeds could be another benefit of the Sealine’s improved performance. The figures quoted in our range section are for displacement speeds.

Interior

Both of these yachts deliver the best of modern sports yacht deck salon design with huge glass sections, sunroofs, galley aft layouts that connect interior and deck and plenty of space. Where they differ is with the seating, with a U-shape sofa for the Sealine and a facing lounge for the Prestige.

Accommodation

In the standard two-cabin layout, these yachts are incredibly similar, with full-beam Owner’s cabins featuring ensuites and hull-side windows. In its three-cabin layout, the Sealine moves the Owner’s cabin forward and offers either two doubles or a twin and double cabin amidships.

Helm Station

Both yachts have smart, modern helm designs with space for twin MFD screens. As owner-operated yachts, the Sealine also features two additional and important features, with a helm seat that can easily fit two people and a side deck door, allowing the skipper to help with mooring lines.

Deck Areas

The aft decks feature dining and lounge seating, served by the galley aft design and wide opening cockpit doors that create an inside-outside flow of social space. On the foredeck, there are long sweeps of sun pad, the Sealine working in a neat seat.

Compare Layouts

The Sealine and Prestige two-cabin layouts are near identical in space and style with an Owner’s cabin amidships and a forward VIP, both ensuite. The Sealine’s pods and the Prestige’s V-drive configurations push the engines a good way aft, maximising the space available for the cabins. The Sealine uses this space in various ways with three cabin options - two three cabin layouts as well as the standard two.
