Benetti Yachts History & Heritage
With its roots dating back to 1873, this Tuscan shipyard has a storied history of shipbuilding, having been owned by the Benetti family for over 100 years.
Initially finding success in the full-custom yacht market, Benetti underwent a transformative period in the mid-1990s. During this time, Azimut, a specialist in luxury production yachts, acquired the shipyard. Benetti, under new ownership, spearheaded the concept of semi-custom superyachts.
The pioneering move involved constructing vessels of 35m (115ft) and beyond on a standardized GRP/composite hull and superstructure. This approach allowed for diverse interior layouts and options, catering to owners' preferences while significantly reducing build times compared to full custom projects. Over time, this semi-custom strategy has expanded, offering an extensive range of options, with collaborations with some of the world's foremost designers resulting in unique interior spaces.
Concurrently, Benetti continued to advance its full custom capabilities, progressively constructing larger yachts. This upward trajectory has led to the launch of several yachts exceeding 100m (328ft) in recent times, with plans for even more ambitious projects in the pipeline.
