Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 29'6" beam and a 9'8" draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 496 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Launched in March 2010 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months.
Exterior Design
The exterior design of Big Fish is characterized by its raked bow, which enhances both its aesthetic appeal and functionality. The deck is crafted from high-quality teak, providing durability and a classic look. The hull is finished in a light grey color, striking a balance between elegance and modernity. The superstructure is painted white, offering a clean and crisp appearance that contrasts effectively with the hull.
Functional design elements are prevalent throughout Big Fish. The fold-down balconies and 'wings' surrounding the transom maximize usable space and offer versatile areas for dining and relaxation. These platforms are sturdy enough to support tables and chairs, providing unique settings to enjoy meals with an unobstructed view of the surroundings.
Another significant feature is the tender garage located forward. It includes an overhead hatch that rises to reveal Triple Ripple, the 8.7-meter aluminum dayboat/dive-boat. This innovative design allows for easy launching and retrieval, enhancing the yacht's capability to explore various water conditions. The foredeck hatch can also support touch-and-go helicopter operations, adding another layer of functionality.
Interior Design
Big Fish's interior design reflects a blend of functionality and modern aesthetics, emphasizing both comfort and practicality. The materials used throughout the yacht include innovative choices such as stone decking, which is both durable and environmentally responsible. The quarter-inch square granite slabs used for the decks require minimal maintenance and are resistant to impact, allowing guests to wear hard-heeled shoes without concern for damage.
The wheelhouse is equipped with five large PC screens that display comprehensive navigational information. This advanced setup aids in precise navigation and enhances the overall safety of the yacht. The design of the helm focuses on functionality, ensuring that all necessary controls and information are easily accessible.
The main saloon features a video wall that rises up two levels, situated forward of a set of floating stairs. These stairs can be folded up via an electric winch to improve the viewing experience from the saloon and dining area. This space is versatile, allowing for movie screenings, sports events, or displaying photos and video footage from the day's activities.
Accommodation
Big Fish can comfortably host up to 8 guests in its thoughtfully arranged cabins. The owner's suite is a key highlight, featuring an aft-facing bed that ensures a spectacular panoramic view. This suite provides an intimate and private retreat for the owner, with direct access to an alfresco dining and relaxation area just steps outside the master stateroom.
In addition to the owner's suite, Big Fish includes guest suites that are designed with flexibility in mind. Adjoining staterooms can be transformed into full-beam suites, offering adaptable space configurations to suit the needs of the guests.
Big Fish also accommodates a crew of 10, ensuring a high level of service and attention to detail throughout the voyage. Each crew member is selected for their professional skills and personal qualities, contributing to an exceptional onboard experience.
