Design & Construction
Designed around a semi-displacement aluminium hull and superstructure she features a 31' beam and a 7'10" draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 496 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Construction started in late 2019 with the keel laid under the project name 'Elettra'. This was the fourth yacht built on the S501 design. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. Launched in March 2022 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in April 2022.
Exterior Design
The exterior design of the yacht Kinda is characterized by its sleek, low-profile silhouette, highlighted by the unique feature of a 5,000-liter capacity swimming pool located on the foredeck. The initial foredeck space serves a functional purpose, accommodating the tender and personal watercraft, complete with a crane for convenient launch and recovery. Positioned centrally and elevated from the stowage area, the pool is surrounded by seating, including a curved section of bench seating facing forward, complemented by convenient tables.
Kinda's design maintains the distinctive vertical bow of Tankoa's 50-meter series, enhancing internal volume to a gross tonnage of 496. Large windows punctuate the hull and superstructure, establishing a seamless visual connection between interior and exterior spaces. A prominent strake features two slim rectangular horizontal sections of glazing below, accompanied by a series of smaller portholes.
Access to the bathing platform is provided via twin staircases on either side of the main deck aft, with the platform extending when the transom door is lowered, creating a spacious platform and access to the gym and a day head for added convenience.
Practicality seamlessly intertwines with elegance across the exterior spaces, encompassing a spacious sofa arrangement on the main deck aft, a forward lounge area adjacent to the swimming pool, an upper deck aft designed for guest dining, and a generous sundeck. The al fresco dining chairs, sourced from the Riva collection by renowned Catalonian-based design studio Kettal, add a touch of sophistication. The sundeck features a forward-facing sun pad, an outdoor galley, pop-up tables, and sun loungers, offering a versatile environment for relaxation and socializing beneath the open sky. Shade is provided by the canopy supporting the vertical radar and communication mast.
Interior Design
Throughout the yacht, the choice of materials speaks to a preference for authenticity and texture. Brushed oak is consistently used for the flooring, while the ceilings are finished in lacquered light tones. Leather panels in varying shades of grey, with pronounced joints, line the walls, adding a tactile dimension to the spaces. In strategic areas, headboards are enveloped in soft nabuk, complemented by dark grain leather detailing.
Lighting plays a pivotal role in defining the ambiance, with thoughtful placement ensuring both functionality and atmosphere. Fixtures are chosen for their ability to enhance the interior's design elements without becoming focal points themselves, allowing the quality of materials and craftsmanship to stand at the forefront.
The main salon features furniture from renowned brands such as Minotti and Gallotti & Radice.
Dining areas on Kinda are designed to facilitate both intimate meals and larger gatherings. Furniture selections are mindful of ergonomics and aesthetics, with chairs that provide support and style in equal measure. The tables are positioned to encourage conversation while allowing for ease of service from the adjacent galley.
Accommodation
Kinda offers a generous arrangement for up to 12 guests within its six suites, which include a prominent owner's suite and one VIP cabin.
The owner's suite is situated in a commanding position on the yacht. It features a king-sized bed, ample storage through a spacious walk-in closet, and an en suite bathroom that is both sizeable and fitted with dual vanities and a substantial rain shower. The suite is engineered for space optimization and is enhanced by the infusion of natural light through large windows.
In addition to the owner's quarters, Kinda provides a VIP cabin that includes a king-sized bed, extensive storage options, and a large flat-screen TV.
The yacht's capacity to carry up to nine crew members ensures a full guest service. The crew quarters are designed to provide a private and comfortable living space.
Performance & Capabilities
Kinda is powered by twin diesel-electric MAN (V12 D2862 LE446) engines, each producing 1,400 horsepower. This formidable power plant allows Kinda to achieve a top speed of 17 knots. While at a more leisurely cruise speed of 12 knots, the yacht maintains impressive fuel efficiency, enabling a substantial range of 4,700 nautical miles. This range is made possible by the yacht's considerable fuel capacity, with tanks holding up to 65,000 liters.
The vessel's hybrid propulsion system is a key feature, providing the ability to cruise quietly using only battery power. This facility is particularly useful for short-distance navigation or when maintaining a low environmental footprint is a priority. It also allows for a few hours of reduced-impact anchoring.
To complement its forward-thinking propulsion, Kinda is fitted with state-of-the-art ZF transmissions. These ensure efficient and direct transfer of power, which contributes to the yacht's smooth and responsive handling characteristics.
Stabilizing systems on board Kinda are designed to maximize comfort during navigation and while at anchor. The yacht's construction incorporates features that work to dampen roll motion.
The engine room is equipped with large 250-kilowatt generators dedicated to producing DC power, which is particularly well-suited to managing the hotel load. This means that the electric motors can act as generators while the yacht is under propulsion, further enhancing efficiency and reducing the need to run additional generators.
