Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement ice class steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 11m beam and a 3.6m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 1,091 GT (Gross Tonnes). The design also incorporates a heli-pad.
Construction started in late 2019. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. Launched in January 2023 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in August 2023.
Exterior Design
The ice-class Pink Shadow effortlessly catches the eye with its bold color and striking bow plate. The SeaXplorer signature bow-point observation lounge, positioned above the high vertical bow, offers panoramic views and serves as the primary forward-facing guest area. Under the imposing black navigation and communication mast atop of the yacht, a further intimate guest space is available for those seeking a private retreat.
The designers used a premium synthetic teak deck throughout Pink Shadow and the material sets the stage for the cabana lounge on the main deck aft. The overhang of the upper deck helipad offers a stylish enclosure, with signature louvered windows in dark copper creating a tropical ambiance within the interior, aptly named Tahiti Plage. Bulwarks that lower by 90 degrees form balconies, opening the lounge bar to the sides and flooding the area with light and sea breeze, creating a spacious open-air dining and seating area. Notably, the beach club earned a prestigious commendation at the BOAT Design and Innovation Awards.
Utilizing the cranes for more than just launching tenders, guests can indulge in suspended beach chairs over the water, offering a serene experience with toes gently grazing the surface. An infinity pool, centrally positioned on the aft deck, features a fluted wood base and deep ocean blue and gold cushions for surround seating, enhancing the tropical club ambiance. A split-level wooden ceiling above adds to the atmosphere. Stairways on either side of the pool lead to the large bathing platform at the water's edge, where a central section lowers for easy access into the water.
The helipad, prominently situated on the upper deck aft, accommodates landing craft with a 13m diameter and serves as storage for vehicles. Guests can savor the extraordinary sight of an off-road vehicle parked on deck while enjoying the beach-inspired bar.
Interior Design
The interior of Pink Shadow draws inspiration from the 1982 epic adventure film Fitzcarraldo, resulting in a baroque, fun, and unexpected atmosphere. Commissioned designers crafted sculptures and bespoke items, including a remarkable 3.6-meter-long dining table in concrete, adorned with woodland motifs and vintage botanical illustrations. Each room offers delightful exploration, with wallpapers intensifying themes ranging from mangroves to vibrant bird havens. A striking crocodile sculpture adorns rustic wood cabinetry, adding to the whimsical ambiance.
Even the guest cabins' wardrobes are meticulously themed, ensuring every section of the yacht tells a story. Crew quarters reflect the same level of attention to detail, with the bridge featuring a ceiling mural depicting birds in flight. Enclosed balconies accessible from the bridge aid in visual navigation.
The main salon, dubbed the Fitzcarraldo Lounge, showcases red leather Chesterfield sofas and a custom-made humidor. Rich green tones, combined with wood and natural materials, further enhance the thematic cohesion throughout the space.
