Design & Construction

Designed around a full displacement aluminium hull and superstructure she features a 12m beam and a 6m draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 1,104 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Construction started in mid 2017 with the keel laid under the project name 'Project 400'. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. Launched in January 2020 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in June 2020.

Exterior Design

Sea Eagle's sleek superstructure, highlighted by long, uninterrupted lines of tinted glass, conveys a fluidity that draws the eye along its length. This visual continuity is achieved through the use of a rigid superstructure made primarily from laminated glass, topped with an all-aluminum flybridge that starts 200 millimeters below the height of the bulwarks, lending a low-profile appearance.

The flybridge and main aft deck are conceived as social hubs, with hi-lo tables on the flybridge adding flexibility to the setting, and the main deck featuring loose furniture suitable for various arrangements, including an outdoor cinema setup. The aft deck's open plan allows for versatile use, accommodating a range of activities from relaxation to entertainment.

In terms of sail management, Sea Eagle is equipped with three carbon-fibre masts, each progressively taller from bow to stern. The masts are constructed as one-piece structures with high modulus carbon fibers running continuously from masthead to heel. The yacht's rigging is reinforced by Carbo-Link standing rod rigging, ensuring stability and performance. A crow's nest has also been installed for eagle-eye views.

The deck hardware, including carbon-fibre roller-furling booms, captive reel and drum winches, and flush deck hatches, is similarly designed for efficiency and ease of use, enabling the rapid deployment and retrieval of sails. Even with a substantial sail area, the process of hoisting or lowering the mainsails is as swift as it would be for a vessel half the size.

With regard to structural integrity and flexibility, a special adhesive, developed by aerospace experts and classification officials, is employed to absorb differential movement between the superstructure and hull. This solution ensures a continuous glass surface that is both secure and weathertight.

The aft deck's design is devoid of a steering cockpit, which maximizes the available space for various leisure activities. Wide, comfortable steps lead to a swim platform, enhancing the connection with the sea and facilitating the deployment of watersports equipment.

Moving forward, the outdoor dining area offers protection from the elements under a generous overhang and features a simple teak table and seating for intimate gatherings or larger groups, complemented by an indoor/outdoor bar that bridges the exterior with the interior saloon.

Sea Eagle strikes a balance between the practical demands of a sailing vessel and the aesthetic considerations of a luxury yacht.

Interior Design

The main saloon and indoor social areas feature engineered hardwood veneer from Alpi, stained to a walnut finish, with the grain deliberately oriented horizontally to accentuate the yacht’s length and continuity of the main deck. This design choice contrasts with the more traditional vertical orientation that aims to create a sense of height, instead emphasizing the expansive nature of the space.

Italian furniture, including sleek Minotti sofas, complements the interior design, offering a chic and contemporary feel. The choice of these high-end furnishings contributes to the interior's modern ambiance, providing both comfort and style.

The aft saloon includes generous seating arrangements that face a television screen, catering to guests' entertainment needs. The bar, an ellipse feature that bridges the indoor and outdoor spaces, serves as a focal point for social interaction.

In terms of interior detailing, substantial leather-wrapped mullions frame the interior windows, harmonizing with the uninterrupted lines of darkly tinted glass on the exterior.

The forward dining saloon and lounge area draw inspiration from the luxury motoryachts of the 1960s and 70s, with the dining setting positioned to offer panoramic views and a sense of forward motion. A substantial service pantry supports this dining area, while the galley is situated on the lower deck, adjacent to the crew mess, ensuring operational efficiency without intruding on guest spaces.

Flooring throughout the yacht is made of bare white oak from Schotten & Hansen, consistent with the overall design ethos of clean lines and natural materials. This is complemented by the addition of large, fluffy Minotti silver Alps rugs, which introduce a soft texture to the seating areas of the saloons. The artwork selection, consisting of simple, matted black and white photos, provides visual interest against the walnut and wenge backdrop without overwhelming the space.

Accommodation

Sea Eagle can host 12 guests within six well-appointed cabins comprising one double cabin, four twin cabins and a single cabin, each designed to cater to the needs of those on board.

One of the twin cabins has the dual function of serving as a gym, with beds that can be concealed when not in use. This flexible space allows for guests to maintain their wellness routines while enjoying the luxury surroundings.

Sea Eagle is capable of carrying up to 14 crew onboard and her layout ensures crew circulation on one side of the yacht, keeping operations smooth and unobtrusive to guests.

Performance & Capabilities

Sea Eagle has a total sail area of 3,552 square meters, making her capable of reaching speeds of up to 21.5 knots in moderate wind conditions. The three carbon-fibre masts, engineered by Rondal, stand tall with a maximum air draught of 61 meters, allowing the yacht to navigate the Panama Canal with ease. The carbon composite rudder, standing at an impressive 5 meters, is noteworthy as the largest of its kind ever produced, enhancing the yacht's maneuverability and responsiveness.

The yacht's power management is equally impressive, featuring a sophisticated electrical system backed by twin generators. Hydraulic power is supplied by take-offs from each diesel Caterpillar main engine, complemented by a powerful battery bank that provides peak shaving capabilities. This energy system is more than capable of handling the simultaneous hoisting of the fore, main, and mizzen sails. The main switchboard's power management and paralleling systems are engineered to optimize efficiency, ensuring that all power sources and consumers operate at peak performance.

Amenities

The yacht can house plenty of nautical toys and accessories, with a well-appointed tender garage for storing her impressive locker.
