Design & Construction

Designed around a GRP hull and superstructure she features a 6.22m beam and a 1.61m draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 99 GT (Gross Tonnes).

This was the first yacht built on the Ax8 design.

Exterior Design

The foredeck features a versatile living area that can transform into a sunbed, bordered by high gunwales that provide protection from the elements and privacy. The concealed winches below this area are an example of the shipyard's commitment to maximizing space and preserving the yacht's sleek profile.

The cockpit is designed for enjoyment and socializing, with ample seating that overlooks the sea, complemented by an expansive beach club. This area includes a submersible platform that facilitates the launching and recovery of watercraft, as well as a retractable ladder for easy access to the dock. Storage solutions are cleverly integrated into areas that are often underutilized, while the double staircase adds to the stern's aesthetic symmetry.

On the upper deck, the yacht features a panoramic terrace with freestanding furniture and a wet bath, providing an additional area for relaxation and entertainment. The terrace is easily accessible and offers guests an open-air experience with panoramic views.

Sonrisa offers a balance of style, comfort, and practicality, achieved through a careful selection of materials, a focus on spatial dynamics, and an unwavering attention to detail.

Interior Design

The interior of Sonrisa adheres to a timeless style, where the quality is evident in the subtleties. Leather is utilized to impart a sense of class and elegance throughout the salon. The space within the salon is made more engaging by the varying widths that arise from the staircase and the room dividers. A key feature is the depth of the salon and the panoramic views it offers. An architectural motif connects the furniture to the window frames, while mirror surfaces and LED lighting emphasize the ceiling design.

In terms of the dining area, Sonrisa boasts two tables surrounded by expanses of glass, contributing to a unique dining experience. This is enhanced by a design that maximizes the perception of space, achieved through strategic use of glass, voids, and mirror elements to extend the room's visual dimensions.

The helm is notable for its carbon panel dashboard and the design of the air conditioning outlets, which reflect the overall style of the yacht. A large display dominates the center, dedicated to home automation, flanked by two additional displays for navigation. Overhead, the roof features adjustable slats, and there is a dedicated sitting area for guests who wish to observe the navigation process. Also designed with visibility in mind, the helm station provides the captain with a broad view, extending over 180 degrees, enhancing navigational safety and ease.

Transitioning to the galley, located on the lower deck, it presents a functional space equipped with essential amenities for high-end culinary experiences. The galley's proximity to the crew quarters is practical for operations and service flow.

Accommodation

Sonrisa comfortably accommodates up to eight guests in four well-appointed suites. These comprise a generously sized owner's cabin and a VIP cabin, each designed to offer a serene and private retreat for those on board.

The owner's suite features a unified aesthetic, with the bed, headboard, ceiling, and wall housing the television all presenting as a cohesive piece of furniture. The inclusion of futuristic nightstands and the clever design of wardrobes and doors that blend with the wall paneling exemplify the shipyard's attention to detail. The owner's suite also boasts a luxurious bathroom complete with a double sink and a vanity console, adding to the overall sophistication of the space.

The VIP cabin mirrors the elegance and style of the owner's suite, ensuring a high level of comfort and luxury for additional guests. Beyond these two primary suites, Sonrisa offers two more guest cabins, each maintaining the same standard of beauty and enjoying picturesque views. All cabins feature their own en suite bathrooms, providing complete privacy and convenience.

For the crew, Sonrisa provides well-considered accommodation ensuring that service can be carried out with the utmost efficiency. The yacht houses two crew cabins with a combined total of three or four berths, located on the lower deck. This separation of guest and crew quarters allows for service that is both attentive and discreet, ensuring that guests experience a relaxed and luxurious stay aboard.

Performance & Capabilities

Sonrisa is powered by a pair of Volvo Penta IPS 1350 engines. Each diesel engine is capable of producing 1,000 horsepower, allowing for a confident cruising experience. Sonrisa reaches a minimum planing speed of 12 knots with a fuel consumption of 100 liters per hour. At this pace, guests can enjoy a tranquil voyage with the assurance of economic fuel usage.

For those inclined to push the yacht to its potential, Sonrisa can achieve a top speed of 19 knots. The efficiency of the vessel is maintained even at higher speeds, with a reported fuel consumption of 18 liters per nautical mile at a speed of 16 knots.

The yacht’s design ensures a smooth ride, with minimal heel angle during tight turns, and a structure that remains unfazed even when traversing its own wake.

The yacht also features state-of-the-art stabilization systems, which reduce the roll motion effect and ensure a smoother, more enjoyable cruising experience. This translates to increased comfort for guests, whether Sonrisa is making way through the open sea or anchored in a secluded bay.
