Organizers of Boot Düsseldorf have announced that the show will be postponed following consultation with its partners and exhibitors. Originally scheduled to take place from 23 January to 31 January, the 2021 edition of Boot Düsseldorf will now be held from 17 April to 25 April.
With uncertainty ongoing due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was decided that the only option available to Messe Düsseldorf, which hosts the show, was to follow in the steps of the Dubai International Boat Show, which has also been postponed to take place in the Spring of 2021.
Messe Düsseldorf's CEO, Wolfram Diener explained the reason for the postponement, saying: “At the present moment in time, we cannot reliably gauge whether a trade fair can be implemented in January 2021. This is due to current infection rates, ongoing travel restrictions and existing legal provisions which do not permit trade fairs to be held currently.
"In consultation with our boot advisory board and the associations we have selected the new dates in April with caution. Statements from numerous experts have led us to believe that it is highly probable the situation will calm down in almost all European countries by spring 2021 on account of the measures currently in place.”
All current applications for Boot Düsseldorf remain valid, and the organizers are still accepting registrations for the postponed event.
Boot Düsseldorf is the world’s biggest indoor boat show, seeing around 2,000 exhibitors occupying over 220,000 square meters of exhibition space. Last year over 250,000 visitors packed the 17 exhibition halls at Messe Düsseldorf over its nine-day run.
The show will retain its position as the first European boat show of the year when it returns for its 52nd edition in April, and there are expected to be many world premieres with everything from luxurious superyachts to canoes and kayaks on show.
