Due to be unveiled by Feadship’s Studio De Voogt, the 75m concept yacht named 'C' will mark the brand's 75th Diamond Anniversary with an exquisite blend of cutting-edge technology and awe-inspiring design.
The Dutch yacht builder Feadship has a history of unveiling superyacht concepts that push the boundaries of design and technology. Notable past concepts include PURE, revealed at the 2021 Monaco Yacht Show, which features a sleek, futuristic design with clean propulsion systems and next-gen yacht control. This yacht embraces sustainability, with plans to evolve into a fully eco-efficient yacht by 2030 through the integration of high-efficiency methanol fuel cells.
Another standout is SLICE, introduced in 2022, which reimagines how natural light flows through a yacht, featuring a striking blend of advanced propulsion systems and opulent materials like backlit marble and onyx. Feadship’s ongoing innovations, like these, consistently aim to combine luxury with environmental responsibility.
Will Feadship's latest superyacht concept C outshine them all?
A Tribute to Diamonds
Named after the chemical symbol for carbon — an element fundamental to diamonds — the 'C' also plays on the words 'see' and 'sea'. Drawing inspiration from the intricate patterns of a cut diamond, concept yacht C features dazzling angles and extensive glass expanses that flood the interior with natural light. This transforms the central living area into a luminous gallery, enhancing the fluidity and openness of the space.
Innovative Design Features
One of the standout features of C is its unique deck structure. Each deck is offset by a half-level, creating smooth transitions between different lifestyle zones. The central atrium, complete with floating stairs and a wall-less lift, is a marvel of modern design, offering an unprecedented living experience.
Additional innovative features include a partially enclosed lower deck sea lounge, usable both at anchor and while underway, a beach club with sea-level dining, a duplex owner’s suite, and an articulating crow’s nest that rises from a private observation deck. The yacht also boasts two infinity-edge hexagonal pools, harmonizing with various seating areas and the central atrium.
Advanced Propulsion and Sustainability
C is not just a visual masterpiece; it’s also a technological marvel. The yacht features a fully electric propulsion system with inline contra-rotating propellers, a marked improvement from Feadship’s previous BREATHE concept and the Feadship superyacht SAVANNAH. Computer simulations suggest that this new system is 30% more efficient than traditional dual-shaft systems, significantly reducing wake.
Powered entirely by methanol-based hydrogen fuel cells, complemented by lithium-metal batteries, C embodies Feadship’s commitment to sustainable yachting. The yacht can cruise at 14 knots on fuel cells alone, with a top speed of 17 knots achievable by integrating battery power into the DC electrical grid. Additionally, wave-actuated fins generate supplementary power, potentially covering one-third of the yacht’s hotel load in one-meter seas.
Next-Gen Command Center
C integrates advanced technology with a remote bridge plan, initially introduced in Feadship’s 2021 PURE concept. The command center, located on the lower deck between the crew area and beach club, features a fully digital operation and navigation hub equipped with intelligent situational awareness technology. This setup not only centralizes crew tasks but also enhances communication between engineering and navigation teams, optimizing space for owner and guest areas.
Meet the Designers
Designers Ruud Bakker and Tanno Weeda will be available at the Monaco Yacht Show to delve into the yacht’s groundbreaking technologies and design elements. Visitors can explore the concept through models and video animations at the Feadship hospitality center. For those unable to attend, further details about C will be released soon.
