Ferretti become first marine group to release sustainability report

The Ferretti Group’s first sustainability report will measure its environmental and social impact.

The Ferretti Group has become the first marine sector group to introduce a formal corporate responsibility process that aims to minimize its environmental impact.

As part of the process, Ferretti has released a sustainability report, which sets out measures to reduce its environmental impact.

It has identified four main topics to examine each year that will be used to assess the environmental and social performance of the Group. The areas are:

  1. Innovation and luxury: yachts
  2. Environmental impact of the production process
  3. Value for the local area
  4. Human capital

The report also sets out the measures the Group already has in place that focus on sustainability and eco-conservation. They include:

  • The wood used in interior design is sourced from certified forests that are managed according to strict environmental, social and economic standards.
  • Carbon fiber is used to reduce hull weight, increase efficiency and cut back on fuel consumption.
  • Ferreti group shipyard CRN was the first shipyard in Italy to receive IMO Tier III certification. This was obtained for a 62m superyacht.
  • Over 85% of Ferretti Group’s supply chain is based in Italy and over 75% of the total economic value generated is distributed in the country.
  • The Group has obtained RINA Biosafety Trust Certification, a certificate launched in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, protecting over 1,500 workers as well as customers. This provides a series of best practices to prevent and control the spread of infections.

Successful sales efforts must go hand in hand with corporate responsibility.” he commented.

“To testify to our corporate responsibility, we have decided to embark on a formal process that has led to the preparation of our first Sustainability Report. A first for Ferretti Group and a first for the Italian marine industry.”
