On Deck

The yacht has a hi-lo platform at the back of the boat, which lowers to provide a walkway into the water and rises to sit flush with the rest of the boat. There is plentiful storage in this area and the quality of the mechanics are very high, it is believed these will still be functional a decade from now.

The Martex 440 features solar panels that keep the batteries topped up and power the fridges etc.  Sturdy rails are present all around the decks. The boat is very practical with the bow sprit for mooring and easy access to the engine room.

Walking around the boat, there are side doors on both sides and a fantastic canopy system. The clever design of the seating area and table allows for comfortable lounging and dining. Highlights are the concealed lighting and a sliding door that completely encloses the interior.

Interior

In terms of the interior, the "Gourmet Cruiser" kitchen area receives high praise. The design aims to provide a domestic experience, with plenty of storage, a dishwasher, and multiple fridges. There are lots of thoughtful details, such as a pull-out section for rinsing dishes.

The yacht features seating areas, a helm with a sliding wheel and throttle, and an opening roof. Downstairs, there are two cabins that can be configured with double or single beds. There are lots of thoughtful design aspects, such as the installation of USB chargers by the beds, the plentiful storage, and the cleverly designed owners' cabin with its own ensuite. There is an alternative layout option for those who might prefer a larger ensuite and two cabins instead of three.

Performance

The boat can be configured with outdrives, IPS or shaft drive, depending on the owner's preference. The engine space houses a pair of Volvo Penta D6-IPS650 engines which give the boats about 37 knots flat out, cruising at about 28 knots and range is about 280 miles.

In Summary

In terms of cost, Nick mentions that the price given by Marex is for a fully specced boat, including air conditioning, a generator, a washing machine, navigation kit, and more. Overall, Nick is very impressed with the Marex 440, praising its practicality, quality, and thoughtful design.
