On Deck
On the hi-lo platform the tender is positioned. It is explained how the tender sits on a cradle that drops flat when not in use and how it is launched via a button in the cockpit. The bathing platform also has a galley area on the back of the boat, equipped with a cooking area and a sink.
Nick mentions that one of the things he likes about the yacht is how quickly it can be prepared for sailing. He demonstrates this by sliding open the back doors and removing a cover, tasks that take only about 30 seconds combined. Also shown are the electrically controlled seats that can easily convert into loungers, a unique feature that he appreciates.
In the cockpit the fridge and the unfoldable dining table are pointed out. Also showcased are the sunbathing cushions on the bow and the anchor hanging out front, controlled by an electric winch.
Interior
The helm position has a double seat for passengers and a dedicated bucket seat for the helmsman. He also appreciates the matte color of the helm, which prevents reflection in the windshield. Other features at the helm include a Garmin multi-function display, throttle controls, joystick control for maneuvering, trim tab controls, and a sliding fiberglass roof that opens to allow air to flow through.
The lower deck of the yacht is open and spacious, with a dinette area rather than a third cabin. It is noted that this design makes a lot of sense for a yacht of this size. The galley includes a fridge freezer and cooker, and a sleeping area can be converted from the dining area.
The forward cabin has good lighting and storage areas, and the day heads with a separate shower area. He then shows the full beam master cabin with its own ensuite, highlighting the skylight and the hanging locker containing the switch gear.
Performance
The engine room houses a pair of Volvo Penta D6-370 engines and offers ample space for storage. The size of the engine room is praised, with it being a decent for a 46-foot boat. The yacht can reach up to 33 to 34 knots and has a cruising speed of about 25 knots, with a range between 150 and 200 miles.
In Summary
Nick ends the tour by extending one of the electrically controlled seats and sitting down, expressing his overall positive impression of the Beneteau Gran Turismo 46.
