On Deck

The boat has a low height, which allows easy access from the pontoon without the need to climb onto the bathing platform. There are wide side decks with high bulwarks that provide excellent protection.

The accessibility of the yacht is praised, with special note to the easy access to various pieces of equipment. There are many practical storage areas, twin hydraulic anchor winches, and the anchor locker on the foredeck. He admires the teak effect printed on the hand rails on deck as it reduces maintenance.

Interior

The Fleming's interior design can be customized based on the owner's preference. There is chic woodwork in the accommodation, but this can be changed to a cream facing on the bulkheads if desired. The galley, located on the same level as the accommodation, is fitted with Miele cooking equipment and a huge American fridge freezer. This placement is advantageous as it caters excellently to the seating area.

The wheelhouse, or pilothouse, has a raised seating area that allows everyone to be on the same level as the pilot and see out.

In the lower deck, there is a full-beam master cabin and a forward VIP cabin, which can be configured with V berths or a double bed. There is underfloor heating in the shared toilet and bunk beds in the third cabin. The master cabin is found to be very well done with a dressing table, massive storage, and an ensuite.

Performance

A major highlight is the Böning system that controls the entire boat. The system provides a checklist to ensure everything is switched on and closed, and gives detailed information on engine configuration, fuel system, navigation lights, DC power, AC power, bilges, and temperature. There is also a complete backup for the Böning system with manual switching for everything, ensuring you are never stuck.

Nick admires the engine room with its MAN i6 800hp engines that give the boat a top speed of 20 knots and a cruising speed of 15 knots. At an economic speed of 8 knots, these engines can provide 2,500 nautical miles of range. He notes the redundancy in the yacht's design, such as the three steering pumps and the two separate computer control systems for the engines.

In Summary

Overall, Nick seems to be very impressed with the Fleming 58, praising its design, flexibility, and the thoughtfulness of its features. He describes it as a beautiful-looking boat that is designed for serious high-quality long-distance cruising.
