On Deck

A unique feature are the teak cappings on the rails, which are actually resin replicating the design of teak. This is a very practical feature as it requires only washing and waxing, not varnishing or treating. He also draws attention to the longer boat deck, an upgrade on this model that provides both extra shade and increased headroom when under a canopy.

On the flybridge, there are additional engine controls, a seating area with a hardtop and a substantial tender with a 30-horsepower engine.

Interior

In the saloon area there is a sociable seating arrangement, an overhead rail, a handy feature designed for distance traveling, and a TV that rises out of a compartment. The galley is on the same level as the main area, with a dishwasher, large twin sink, an induction hob, a proper cooker, and a microwave. A unique feature is the dumbwaiter, useful for sending food up to the flybridge.

In terms of accommodation, there is a three-cabin layout, with an optional office space for those who might spend extended periods onboard. He also notes the presence of a washing machine and dryer. Other features of interest include a pullman berth in the second cabin and an owner's cabin with ample storage, teak finishing, and a private ensuite.

In the wheelhouse, there are extensive navigation screens and separate electronic engine control systems, emphasizing the boat’s focus on self-sufficiency and the ability to keep going even in the face of potential problems.

Performance

The engine space houses a pair of Cummins QSC 500 engines, capable of pushing the boat to a top speed of about 20 knots. He also notes the impressive fuel manifold system, the backup features such as twin water pumps, and the cleanliness of the engine area, considering the amount of cruising the boat has already done.

In Summary

Nick's admiration for the Fleming 55 is evident throughout his tour, with his appreciation for its practicality, self-sufficiency, and readiness for serious, long-distance cruising.
