On Deck
Nick is quick to point out the boat's lowered floor, a design choice that sacrifices some headroom but significantly improves the yacht's stability by lowering its center of gravity. Carbon fiber has been used throughout in the yacht's construction, this material choice is unusual but contributes further to the boat's excellent sea-keeping abilities.
The yacht's cockpit doors pivot wide instead of sliding into a stack, and this creates a more open and inviting space. There are plenty of customization options offered by Galeon, which include the ability to alter the lighting, woodwork, and upholstery according to personal taste.
The side deck has a convenient side door to the helm for easy dock access.
At the bow, there is a lovely seating area with a table. Shown here is a glass panel floor, which provides light to the cabin below. The flybridge area above is accessed from an upper dining terrace. There is a bar and two seating areas with sunbathing in front of the upper helm.
Interior
The saloon area has large windows and well-crafted lighting solutions. There is a mix of polished and matte wood finishes. The helm's position is found to be unusual for a flybridge boat but still practical.
The guest accommodation impresses, especially the VIP cabin with its glass ceiling panel and clever shower stall that can be converted into floor space when not in use. He also appreciates the other cabins, noting the ample storage space, large windows, and tasteful wood finishes.
The owner's cabin stands out however, especially for the ingenious lighting design that accentuates the backlit wood and the ensuite bathroom with its infinity mirror feature.
Crew Accommodation
The fully equipped crew area is accessed from the bathing platform. The accommodation includes a bunk bed cabin, wet room day heads and a small but well finished galley area.
Performance
The engine room, housing two MAN 1200 horsepower engines and a generator, is notable for its design that prioritizes stability and seakeeping. The engines would give the boat a top speed of around 30 knots, cruising at 25 knots is estimated to give a range of 350 nm.
In Summary
Overall, Nick is thoroughly impressed with the Galeon 680 Flybridge. He praises its attention to detail, customization options, and thoughtful engineering throughout the yacht. He clearly enjoys sharing this unique yacht with his viewers.
