Sessa Marine Boats History & Heritage

Founded in 1958, Sessa embarked on its journey as a pioneer in Italy's phenolic and polyester resin production. In 1968, the company made a significant foray into the marine industry by participating in the Genoa Boat Show, marking the initiation of diversified production for reinforced plastics.

The 1970s witnessed the production of small boats at the Sessa Aurunca factory in southern Italy and the establishment of a new shipyard in Cinisello Balsamo in the north. In 1972, the acquisition of the Arcone factory near Milan set the stage for Sessa to become the first Italian company, in 1973, to install the innovative Piaggio jets and construct the initial small inboard jet units.

A pivotal moment occurred in 1986 when Sessa relocated from Arcore to Lesmo (Milan) and concurrently shifted boat production to the province of Bergamo through the acquisition of Fyberstamp. Notably, Fyberstamp was renowned for building globally recognized boats like Riva and Ferretti. This transition marked the inception of a new boat range, aligning the brand with fresh horizons and broader market objectives. The 80s saw the introduction of iconic models such as Mambo, Samba, and Sunshine being succeeded by the contemporary Key Largo, Oyster, and Key West ranges.

In 1992, the merger of Fyberstamp and Sessa led to the formation of Sessa Marine Spa, shaping the contemporary identity of the company. The Lesmo plant closed to consolidate efforts at the Cividate Shipyard, modernized and expanded in 1999.

Sessa's global presence expanded with the opening of the Sessa America branch in Florida in 2006. The unveiling of the flagship C68 in 2008 marked the company's entry into the yachts market beyond 20 meters. In 2009, the Key Largo 36 earned the prestigious "Boat of the Year 2009" title from Motor Boating USA.

Throughout the years, Sessa continued to innovate, introducing the first sport "Flybridge" in 2010 and establishing Sessa Brasil in 2011. The company evolved into Sessa International Srl in 2015, showcasing a commitment to international excellence.

In 2017, a groundbreaking concept was presented with the world premiere of the new flagship Fly68 Gullwing. The subsequent years witnessed the introduction of new models with distinctive wide side windows, exemplifying the brand's unique style.

In 2020, the Key Largo range welcomed the flagship Key Largo 40. The transformative year 2023 saw a group of entrepreneurs, owners of the Sessa Marine production line in Brazil, acquiring 100% of the shares of Sessa Marine International. This marked the beginning of a new era for the brand, with a global focus and synchronized operations in Brazil and Italy, striving for excellence in production, technical expertise, and aesthetic appreciation, upholding the intrinsic value of the unmistakable "Made in Italy" style.
