“Our only speciality is the uniqueness of our creations” says Carlo Nuvolari, founder of Nuvolari Lenard.

The individual nature of their work has seen Venice based Nuvolari Lenard become one of the most important design studios, not just in Italy but worldwide, equally adept at large custom built yachts and smaller, sporty production yachts.

Naval engineer and architect, Carlo Nuvolari and designer Dan Lenard founded their design studio in 1991. Their talent and self-confessed desire to target the pursuit of beauty quickly stood out and there are now 16 employees at their Design Centre, creating yachts between 25m and 185m long.

Nuvolari Lenard have implemented their unique Italian style on some of the biggest and most eye-catching yachts in the world.

Their exterior design on Oceanco’s 81m ‘Alfa Nero’, won numerous awards, and drew much attention for its unusually large infinity pool that transforms into a dance floor or helipad.

QUATTROELLE, the 88m Lurssen superyacht, was marked out by the contrast of a high bow with sugar-scoop window shapes and a reverse angle on the stack.

Palmer Johnson’s 52.3m DB9 benefited from Nuvolari Lenard’s touch, it’s eye-catching exterior and elegant interior setting new standards in comfort and luxury, not least for three separate pool areas and an open-air cinema on the sundeck.

It isn’t all about large custom yachts though. Nuvolari Lenard has also worked with a lot of serial production builders, namely Monte Carlo Yachts, Carver Yacht Group, Marquis Yachts and Dominator. Their touches of class on the MC4, MC5, and MC6 series and the Amels Limited Editions range are just two examples of their ability to switch between production and custom yachts without losing any of their famous quality.

Whilst Italian influences are evident in their design work, Dan Lenard has made a point of saying Nuvolari Lenard don’t have a style and instead every new project starts from the beginning.

This approach had led to them having one of the most varied portfolio’s of any yacht designer, encompassing Venetian taxis, shuttle services for superyachts, large motor yachts and gigantic sailing yachts, as well as whole production ranges.

Over the years Nuvolari Lenard has covered every area of yacht design, and as they say themselves “it’s not because we chose to do it, but because we chose to never repeat ourselves”.
