Ferretti Yachts History & Heritage
Established in 1968 in Bologna, Italy, Ferretti, founded by brothers Alessandro and Norberto Ferretti, began as a Chris Craft dealership. Transitioning to boat building in 1971, they initially crafted wooden motorsailers, later exclusively focusing on motor yachts in the early 1980s.
In the '90s, Ferretti ventured into powerboat racing, with Norberto Ferretti becoming the Offshore Class One Powerboat World Champion in 1994. This pursuit spurred technological innovation, including the pioneering development of carbon fiber hulls cured in an autoclave.
The Ferretti Group emerged as the yard expanded, featuring a significant in-house R&D department. Alongside Ferretti Yachts, the group owns renowned motor yacht and superyacht marques such as Pershing, Riva, Itama, Mochi Craft, CRN, and Custom Line.
Beyond yacht production, Ferretti developed its brand of gyroscopic stabilizers, ARG, and established a defense division constructing fast naval patrol vessels.
Over three decades, Ferretti has evolved into a multinational shipbuilding corporation, with expansive facilities in Italy and additional operations in the United States. While now controlled by China's Weichai Group, Ferretti Group maintains a robust Italian identity, symbolizing its remarkable journey from a Chris Craft dealership to a global force in luxury yacht manufacturing.
