Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 20.8m beam and a 4.5m draft. The yacht is built over 7 decks with an internal volume of 13,136 GT (Gross Tonnes). The design also incorporates a heli-pad.

Construction started in mid 2011 with the keel laid under the project name 'Azzam'. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. Launched in April 2013 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in November 2013.

Exterior Design

Measuring an imposing 18m (593ft) in length, Azzam's sleek profile maintains a sense of balance and proportion that is often challenging to achieve in a vessel of such dimensions.

The design philosophy behind Azzam's striking appearance is grounded in the principles of modern architecture; her silhouette is delineated by straight lines and balanced volumes that contribute to an overall aesthetic that is as contemporary as it is timeless. The decision to dress the yacht in a livery of pure white paint enhances its sophisticated stature.

Pedol takes pride in the fact that observers often remark on Azzam's deceptive size, noting that her proportions convey a yacht smaller than her actual length. This illusion is a subtle nod to the designer's skill in creating a harmonious visual experience that draws the eye along her fluid lines without overwhelming the senses. The result is a floating masterpiece that captures the essence of Nauta Design's commitment to creating vessels that are not only visually arresting but also fundamentally sound in their naval architecture.

Holding the crown for the world’s longest yacht for almost a decade, 180m (593ft) Azzam is also one of the fastest superyachts on the planet, reaching impressive speeds in excess of 30 knots.

Interior Design

Delving into the sumptuous interior of the superyacht Azzam, one is transported into an ambiance of regal luxury, reflective of the turn-of-the-century Empire style. Esteemed French designer Christophe Leoni, known for his exquisite architectural work, orchestrated the intricate interior design, which harmonizes flawlessly with the owner's existing properties. The level of craftsmanship within Azzam's confines articulates a narrative of elegance and exclusivity.

Within the expansive hull of Azzam lies a main salon of epic proportions, extending 29 meters in length and spanning the full 18-meter beam of the vessel. This grand space is a marvel of engineering and design, achieved through an open-plan layout devoid of obstructive pillars, creating an uninterrupted vista of refined taste and sophistication. The salon is undoubtedly the heart of social gatherings aboard Azzam, offering guests an opulent setting for entertainment and relaxation.

The use of rich wooden furnishings, along with mother-of-pearl inlays and elaborate marquetry, is down to the intricate workmanship that has gone into creating a luxurious setting.

The amenities onboard Azzam cater to both the leisure and wellness of her guests. A unique feature is the golf practice room, a nod to the vessel's multifaceted recreational offerings. This space, among other fitness facilities, underscores the commitment to providing an exceptional onboard experience that extends beyond the traditional scope of yacht amenities.

Accommodation

Luxury and grandeur define the guest accommodation aboard the superyacht Azzam, a vessel that redefined the benchmarks of opulence and sophistication upon its launch. Crafted to perfection, Azzam, built by Lürssen, offers unparalleled living spaces for its distinguished guests.

With an impressive beam of 20.80 meters, Azzam provides spacious and meticulously designed accommodations for up to 36 guests, ensuring they experience the utmost comfort and privacy during their time on board.

The owner's suite or master cabin, although specifics are not publicly disclosed, is expected to be a masterpiece of luxury living on the sea. Given the yacht’s grandeur and the known preferences for sumptuous design and fine craftsmanship, it is likely that the owner's accommodations present an oasis of tranquility with exquisite furnishings, offering the owner a sanctuary of privacy and elegance.

The additional guest cabins are crafted to meet the highest standards of luxury yachting. Each cabin, designed under the guidance of Christophe Leoni, is anticipated to be a blend of comfort and sophistication, with bespoke fittings and finishes that exude a timeless elegance. Guests aboard Azzam can expect their quarters to be nothing short of regal, with fine materials and intricate details, all contributing to an ambiance of exclusive luxury.

Azzam also accommodates a crew of between 70 to 80 members in 30 staff cabins, who ensure seamless service and operations throughout the yacht. The crew accommodations are designed to provide the staff with comfort and functionality, allowing them to maintain the high standards of service that are synonymous with a yacht of Azzam's stature.

Performance & Capabilities

Azzam is powered by two 26MW gas turbines and two 9MW MTU diesel engines, combining to provide an astonishing 94,000 horsepower. This powerhouse enables Azzam to reach a top speed of 34 knots, an incredible feat for a yacht of her size, making her one of the fastest yachts of her class. Her propulsion system, which includes the use of pump jets in place of traditional propellers, allows for efficient navigation even in shallow waters, with a draft of just 4.30 meters.

Azzam's remarkable speed does not come at the cost of range or comfort. The innovative engineering ensures that despite her swift capabilities, guests aboard will experience a smooth and pleasurable journey. The yacht is designed to be comfortable in the warm waters and high temperatures characteristic of the Gulf region.

Azzam has been equipped with state-of-the-art stabilization systems to ensure maximum comfort for guests, even at high speeds or in rough sea conditions.

Azzam is a carefully curated experience, designed to reflect the distinct tastes and requirements of her owner. The opulence on display is not merely for show but is an integral part of the vessel's identity, making Azzam not just a means of travel, but a home upon the waves where luxury and comfort sail hand in hand.

Amenities

A gym with all the latest equipment allows her guests to keep their workout routines while at sea. For the ultimate relaxation experience, the yacht plays host to a luxury spa. In addition, a swim platform provides easy access to the ocean. The yacht can house plenty of nautical toys and accessories, with a well-appointed tender garage for storing her impressive locker. An elevator makes the yacht fully-accessible, while air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort. Azzam also features a deck jacuzzi for cooling off.
