Design & Construction
Designed around a semi-displacement GRP hull and superstructure she features a 7m beam and a 2.03m draft. The yacht is built over 2 decks with an internal volume of 199 GT (Gross Tonnes).
This was the third yacht built on the Magellano 30M design. She was completed at Azimut's Fano yard in Italy where she was commissioned and delivered to her owners.
Exterior Design
Fifth Season, an Azimut Magellano 30 Metri, showcases an exterior designed by Ken Freivokh. The vessel maintains the distinctive Magellano series' DNA with its semi-planning dual mode hull, delivering a balance of performance and stability with a top speed of approximately 25 knots.
The yacht features a tender garage and a bathing platform integrated into the transom, which when lowered, extends the platform for ease of water access and tender operations.
The cockpit area is equipped for relaxation rather than dining, with a focus on lounge spaces that allow guests to enjoy the waterfront view in comfort. An automated shade extends from the overhang for privacy and protection from the sun when moored stern-to. The design also includes a neatly integrated staircase connecting the cockpit to the upper deck, adding both visual appeal and functionality.
The Azimut Magellano 30 Metri is characterized by symmetrical decks offering equal access on both sides of the yacht, leading to a foredeck that showcases thoughtful design and sturdy stainless steel fixtures with distinctive shapes. The wing stations on either side of the yacht facilitate maneuverability, equipped with controls for the throttle, thrusters, and engine diagnostics, all retractable to maintain the clean lines of the exterior when not in use.
The foredeck features a hot tub flanked by sunbathing areas and a forward-facing sofa, with the option of shade provided by canvas stretched over poles that slot into the deck. The yacht's ground tackle is substantial, with twin anchors and robust deck equipment, emphasizing its readiness for serious cruising.
Interior Design
The saloon is characterized by expansive glass windows accompanied by low profile furniture, ensuring unobstructed views of the surroundings. The careful arrangement of furniture facilitates a bright and open space, where the primary entertainment system, a retractable television, is discreetly housed within the ceiling.
Attention to detail is evident in the dining area, which boasts a substantial dining table complemented by concealed storage solutions. Panels subtly integrate into the surroundings, providing ample space for dry goods and dinnerware while maintaining a streamlined aesthetic.
The helm of the Fifth Season prioritizes functionality without compromising on style. A suite of Simrad Multifunction Displays and digital switching systems control various onboard systems, housed within a dashboard that is both practical and visually coherent with the yacht's contemporary ethos.
The galley is strategically positioned to offer privacy from guest areas while remaining accessible to crew. Equipped with domestic-sized refrigeration units, a Meile oven, and an induction cooktop, it is a comprehensive workspace designed for efficiency. Large windows ensure a well-lit environment, further enhanced by direct access to crew quarters, facilitating discreet service movement.
Accommodation
Central to the yacht's design is its capacity to host up to ten guests within five well-appointed cabins, ensuring comfort and privacy for all aboard. The guest accommodations are strategically placed on the lower deck, with configurations designed to adapt to various guest requirements.
The owner's suite, is full-beam and situated on the main deck, featuring expansive windows that invite natural light and afford panoramic views of the surrounding seascape. The owner's suite boasts ample storage cleverly concealed to maintain the cabin's sleek appearance, alongside a king-sized bed, a private refrigerator for refreshments, and an en-suite bathroom with twin sinks, a separate shower cubicle, and a private toilet.
Below deck, the guest cabins are equally impressive, with two midship double cabins and two forward twin cabins that offer the flexibility of converting into doubles, enhancing the versatility of the sleeping arrangements. Each cabin is furnished with a television, adequate storage, and an en-suite bathroom, providing guests with a comfortable and self-contained living space.
Attention to detail is evident in the VIP stateroom, which is distinguished by its size and luxurious finishes. Guests residing here will appreciate the art deco-inspired ambiance, a homage to the elegance of a bygone era, complete with a dedicated bureau, a substantial window that frames the marine vista, and an en-suite bathroom that echoes the cabin's refined aesthetic.
Fifth Season is also capable of carrying up to 5 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience. The crew quarters offer direct access to both the galley and the side decks, allowing the crew to perform their duties efficiently without intruding on guest privacy.
Performance & Capabilities
Fifth Season is powered by twin V12 MAN engines, each boasting an impressive 1900 horsepower. These engines share the same block as the 1550 horsepower variant, ensuring that space within the engine compartment remains unchanged regardless of the power option selected.
With these robust engines, Fifth Season demonstrates a commendable top speed of around 25 knots. Designed to cruise efficiently at speeds of 17-18 knots, the yacht benefits from Azimut's dual mode hull which promises a 20% increase in fuel efficiency at medium cruising speeds. This feature is conducive to long-distance voyages, where sustained cruising is preferred, yet the yacht retains the capability to accelerate when a swift passage is required.
The yacht's range and performance are further enhanced by its sophisticated stabilization system, which employs fin stabilizers rather than a gyroscopic SeaKeeper. This choice in stabilizing technology underlines the yacht's commitment to maintaining equilibrium in various sea conditions, ensuring guest comfort during transit.
For energy management, Fifth Season is equipped with a significant 130-kilowatt-hour battery bank, which allows for hours of operation without the need for the generators to be running. This system can sustain the yacht’s critical functions overnight or for an estimated four hours during the day, offering a quieter and more environmentally friendly operation.
Access to the engine room is straightforward, with two deck hatches located in the cockpit. The main hatch opens to reveal a ladder descending into the aft section of the engine room. Here, the spatial arrangement around the engines is generous, providing ample room for routine checks and maintenance. Daily checks are simplified, despite the presence of substantial components, including the two large generators flanking the engines.
