This was the fourth yacht built on the Amels 180 design. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. Launched in March 2013 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in August 2013.

Exterior Design

With a robust steel hull and an aluminum superstructure, Gene Machine presents a sturdy and dependable profile that is characteristic of Amels' craftsmanship. The yacht's length of 180 feet (55 meters) is complemented by a beam of 9.25 meters, ensuring ample space on board for various amenities and leisure activities.

On the Sun Deck, guests are greeted with a spacious lounge area, which includes a full-service bar with teak wood and chrome accents. The uppermost deck offers an inviting setting for relaxation and socialization, protected from the elements when necessary. The forward section of the Sun Deck features a generously sized hot tub surrounded by teak detailing, flanked by six lounge chairs positioned for optimal enjoyment of the yacht's surroundings.

Gene Machine's exterior also boasts a unique beach club at the stern, distinguished by a custom mosaic with vibrant motifs inspired by the animated film "Finding Nemo." This space provides an intimate connection to the water, ideal for leisure and entertainment.

Gene Machine's ability to venture into remote areas is demonstrated by the achievement of reaching the northernmost point of any privately owned yacht at that time.

Interior Design

The main salon serves as the central gathering space for guests, characterized by its understated elegance. The full-size dining table is complemented by an L-shaped couch, providing ample seating in a layout that encourages social interaction. Attention to detail is evident in the unique decorative elements, such as the display case with butterfly specimens that add a touch of natural history to the room.

Materials utilized throughout the vessel are chosen for both their aesthetic appeal and durability. Rich teak wood imparts warmth and is paired with chrome accents for a modern touch. Lighting is thoughtfully integrated, enhancing the ambiance while ensuring practicality; it illuminates spaces adequately.

The dining areas on Gene Machine are designed to facilitate a pleasant culinary experience. The furniture and settings are arranged to optimize guest interaction, while providing a comfortable environment for enjoying meals prepared by the onboard chefs.

The wheelhouse is a state-of-the-art command center equipped with digital charts and advanced navigation technology, including an upgraded FLIR camera for enhanced safety. It reflects a professional environment, focused on operational efficiency and situational awareness.

Accommodation

Accommodation aboard the Gene Machine is designed to host a maximum of 10 guests in comfort and privacy. The guest quarters consist of five well-appointed suites, including an owner's cabin, two double cabins, and two twin cabins.

The owner's suite is a highlight with its expansive king-size bed and a comprehensive entertainment setup featuring two flat-screen TVs. The suite is designed to be a private retreat, encompassing a workstation and a luxurious bathroom with separate day head, steam room, jetted tub, and a spacious walk-in closet with full-length mirrors. This space is tailored to meet the needs of the yacht's owner, providing a personal sanctuary that is both elegant and functional.

Gene Machine is also equipped to accommodate a crew of up to 13 members. The crew quarters are carefully laid out to ensure that those who work on board have a comfortable living environment that meets their needs. The captain's cabin is noted for being particularly well-appointed, and the overall crew accommodation is complemented by a sizeable crew mess and the attentive care of two chefs.

Performance & Capabilities

Gene Machine is powered by twin diesel MTU engines, each with 16 cylinders and an output of 1,410 horsepower at 2100 RPM, serve as the heart of this vessel. These engines enable Gene Machine to achieve a commendable top speed of 15 knots. When it comes to cruising, she moves gracefully across the water at a steady pace of 13 knots.

Fuel efficiency and range are critical for extended trips across the seas. With a fuel capacity of 115,000 liters, Gene Machine boasts an impressive range. She can navigate up to 4,500 nautical miles without the need for refueling when maintaining a speed of 13 knots. This feature makes her well-suited for long-distance cruising and exploring remote locations.

To enhance comfort, especially in adverse conditions, Gene Machine is equipped with stabilizers. These systems are crucial for reducing the roll of the yacht and ensuring guests experience a more pleasant stay on board, whether the yacht is traversing open waters or anchored offshore.

Amenities

Waterfront living can be enjoyed to the fullest, thanks to a large beach club and connecting swim platform with plenty of space for sitting back and admiring the sea views. Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort. Gene Machine also features deck jacuzzi which provides excellent views.
