Design & Construction

Designed around a semi-displacement aluminium hull and superstructure she features a 8.5m beam and a 2.7m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 490 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Construction started in late 2007. Launched in September 2010 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in October 2010.

Exterior Design

The sundeck is broad and inviting, a key feature for those who prioritize outdoor living. It is composed of teak sun loungers at the bow and a shaded sun pad towards the aft, creating a layout that maximizes space and comfort. Central to the sundeck is a well-appointed dining area, ideal for al fresco meals accompanied by panoramic views. A bar with a granite top and leather seating enhances the space, positioned near a sizeable grill for outdoor culinary experiences. The hot tub, a prominent fixture on the deck, is designed for both relaxation and entertainment. A concealed feature on the sundeck, which will be revealed later, adds another dimension to the yacht's outdoor offerings.

Descending to the upper deck, guests are greeted by a larger dining table that spans the yacht's full beam, thanks to the absence of side decks at this level. The skylounge adjacent to this area showcases a careful blend of woods, fabrics, and stones, creating an elegant atmosphere that complements the exterior design.

The main deck introduces a unique tiered seating area, an architectural choice that serves multiple purposes. This elevation improves sightlines for seated guests and increases headroom for the deck below, where water toys and gear are stored. Additionally, this design creates a discrete corridor for crew members to manage mooring operations without disturbing guests.

The refined, contemporary styling of superyacht IMPROMPTU, by Patrick Knowles, will dazzle her charter guests.

Interior Design

The main lounge is a testament to the attention to detail and craftsmanship that has been invested into every corner of this yacht. Within this space, the use of multiple wood types is evident, from the tetra-style bulkhead to the wenge wood cabinets and the intricate inlay work on the burr surfaces. The overall finish is free of defects, maintaining a pristine condition that speaks to the quality of the yacht's construction and upkeep.

The dining area on the main deck is notable for its size and the intelligent use of materials. The dining table comfortably seats 12 guests and is surrounded by an array of woods and other materials that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing. The etched glass panel serves as a divider, offering both beauty and separation from the central lobby and spiral staircase, which leads to other levels of the yacht.

In the skylounge, the ambiance is set by the clever interplay between various textures and tones, providing a space that is both welcoming and elegant. This area is characterized by its spaciousness, thanks in part to the full beam of the yacht being utilized, with no side decks at this level. This design decision enables an unobstructed flow from the interior to the exterior spaces.

The helm of Impromptu is equipped with vertical windows that offer excellent visibility in all directions, a feature that underscores the yacht's capability as an ocean-going vessel.

The galley is proportioned to accommodate the culinary needs of guests and crew alike, with ample space for meal preparation and storage. The walk-in fridge, and a walk-in freezer, and a door leading to a pantry all help equip Impromptu for long voyages.

Accommodation

Impromptu is equipped to accommodate up to 12 guests in six well-appointed suites. These include an expansive owner's cabin, a VIP cabin, three additional double cabins, and one twin cabin, each meticulously crafted to provide comfort and privacy.

The owner's suite is a highlight, offering a serene retreat for the yacht's principal guests. It features a spacious layout with a dedicated study area, a substantial walk-in closet, and separate his and hers bathrooms, ensuring ample space and facilities for personal preparation and relaxation. The suite's interior is finished with high-quality materials and includes a private observation terrace, offering panoramic views and an intimate connection with the sea.

Guest cabins are similarly well-designed, with each space crafted to offer a peaceful and private environment. The double cabins and the twin cabin are furnished to the same high standard as the owner's suite, ensuring all guests experience consistent comfort and style throughout their stay. Each guest cabin has an ensuite bathroom and is equipped with storage and amenities to cater to the needs of those on board.

Crew accommodations are also thoughtfully arranged to provide a comfortable living space for up to 10 crew members. This ensures the highest level of service and attentiveness to guests while maintaining efficient operations on board. The crew area includes a captain's cabin behind the bridge, three additional cabins with ensuite bathrooms, and a separate cabin for the chief engineer in the yacht's lazarette, which also provides direct access to the engine room.

Performance & Capabilities

Impromptu is powered by twin diesel Caterpillar 3512B engines, each producing 2,250 horsepower. These engines enable the yacht to achieve a notable top speed of 20 knots, while her cruising speed is set at a steady 14 knots, allowing for swift passage-making or leisurely exploration.

Her fuel capacity is substantial, with tanks holding 66,033 liters, which affords her a considerable range of approximately 3,816 nautical miles when traveling at an economic speed of 10 knots.

Equipped with an AC shore power converter, Impromptu is able to traverse different regions while maintaining compatibility with diverse shore power systems, an essential feature for a yacht that regularly sails between the U.S. and the Mediterranean.

Furthermore, the yacht's construction features an aluminum hull and superstructure, which Trinity Yachts is renowned for implementing. This choice of material provides a lightweight yet robust framework, contributing to her seaworthiness and efficient fuel consumption.

To enhance onboard comfort, especially in turbulent conditions, Impromptu is equipped with stabilizers. These are particularly beneficial when the yacht is at anchor, minimizing roll and providing guests with a more stable and enjoyable experience.

Impromptu's semi-displacement hull design is another attribute that emphasizes her versatility. It allows for a spacious interior while still offering the speed capabilities that are desirable for a yacht of her class.

Throughout Impromptu, the interior design reflects not only an aesthetic sensibility but also a clear understanding of the yacht's functional requirements.

Amenities

A gym with all the latest equipment allows her guests to keep their workout routines while at sea. Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort. Impromptu also features a deck jacuzzi for cooling off.
