Dubai International Boat Show set for sparkling return after two-year absence

The stunning surroundings of the redeveloped Dubai Harbour are gearing up to host the Dubai International Boat Show for the first time when it opens its doors tomorrow.

The exclusive Dubai Harbour is set to sparkle with a line-up of stunning superyachts as the Dubai International Boat Show (DIBS) returns tomorrow after a two-year absence.

More than 400 boats, including 50 superyachts, are set to be berthed at Dubai Harbour’s iconic marina for the five-day event, which is being held for the first time since 2019 due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Several of the world’s biggest shipyards will be in attendance including Feadship, Lurssen, Benetti and Damen Yachting, and there will be a series of international and regional debuts.

The Ferretti Group will have a strong presence, with Custom Line’s Navetta 30 getting her ‘Gulf premiere’ and being joined by the Riva 100’ Corsaro flybridge and two Pershing X series models, the Pershing 8X and Pershing 9X. Damen Yachting and its Amels brand will also be putting in a strong show, with its brand new Amels 60 heading the Limited Editions section and Damen Yachting’s SeaXplorer 77 and YS 53 models also on display.

Other highlights will see Heesen presenting the latest in its successful 55m (180ft) steel class, ‘Project Serena’, whilst Sanlorenzo’s iconic crossover yacht, the SX88, will also make its regional debut. Evo Yachts will be present at the Show for the first time, bringing with it its 13m (42.6ft) Evo R4 day cruiser, and multihull specialists Sunreef’s all-electric 80 Eco Catamaran will make its international debut.

Perhaps the biggest ‘debut’ will be reserved for the venue. In 2018 DIBS moved from the established venue of the Dubai International Marina Club in Mina Seyahi to Dubai Canal in Jumeirah. The venue underwent significant redevelopment work, and reopened as the 1,100 berth Dubai Harbour in time to host the 2021 edition of the Show. The Coronavirus pandemic put pay to that, so the 2022 edition will be the first hosted at the exclusive venue. It boasts 1,100 berths and has the ability to host superyachts up to 160m (525ft) in length.

The Show attracts in excess of 25,000 visitors across its four day run

Since it was established in 1992, DIBS has grown significantly and now showcases in excess of $700million worth of products, from stunning superyachts to the latest high-tech toys and gadgets, and attracts over 25,000 visitors.

Away from the yachts there is plenty more to see, with the Marine Art Gallery, Super Car Promenade and the Dive MENA Expo all vying for attention alongside a series of talks and seminars and the opportunity to try out activities such as kayaking and paddleboarding in the water sports arena.
