Tankoa has released the first running images of 50m (164ft) superyacht OLOKUN, with her distinctive black hull photographed en-route to the Côte d'Azur where she will spend her first season.
OLOKUN is the third in the Italian shipyard’s award-winning S501 series. Predecessors BINTADOR and VERTIGE both won industry adulation, VERTIGE taking home a World Yachts Trophy in 2017 for Best Exterior Design and BINTADOR winning the Displacement Motor Yachts Below 499GT - 40m and above category in last year’s World Superyacht Awards.
OLOKUN’s layout is similar to her predecessors with fold-down terraces in the Owner’s suite on the forward main deck, a side-loading tender garage in the stern and a spacious beach club in the transom.
However, there are some variations, not least her dramatic black hull and metallic grey superstructure. The hull was created using a high-performance coating that lowers the temperature of the metal in the sunlight by up to 10°C.
Other differences, which illustrate the extent of the customization offered by Tankoa on its yachts for sale, are a main deck aft dedicated entirely to an enormous lounge with the dining room on the upper deck and a forward master stateroom which features a private study that can be converted into an extra ensuite cabin if needed.
“For me it was a great pleasure to participate in the completion and delivery of Olokun while respecting the established deadlines, despite the serious pandemic that has hit the whole world,” says Vincenzo Poerio, CEO of Tankoa Yachts. “Western Liguria is full of successful shipyards dedicated to refit, but Tankoa is the only yard in this economic sector that has new-build superyacht construction as its core business. I’m convinced that by working with local authorities we will be able to grow Tankoa more and more until it becomes a point of reference in the global superyacht market.”
The sleek, sophisticated exterior lines are the work of long-term Tankoa collaborator Francesco Paszkowski, who also worked on the interiors with Casadio Miami.
The full-aluminium motor yacht has a semi-displacement hull combined with conventional diesel propulsion for a top speed of 17.5 knots and a cruising speed of 14 knots.
Relatively new to the industry Tankoa debuted its first yacht, 69.3m (227ft) SUERTE, at the Monaco Yacht Show in 2015. Its inaugural yacht made quite an impact and picked up nominations for both the World Superyacht Awards and ShowBoats Design Awards in 2016.
Tankoa has now delivered five yachts since 2015 and with an average length of 58.2m (191ft) it is clear to see where the shipyard’s vision lays, delivering big semi-custom and custom constructions. Two further projects are in build at Tankoa’s Genoa facility and both are part of its successful S501 line. ELETTRA is set to be delivered later this year, whilst the fifth hull is expected to be delivered in 2022.
